  • He can't be trusted in a 4-4-2 so (like Ambrose) the whole system has to be tailored (4-5-1) to suit one player...which is alright if the one player is a match-winner. It was ok when Darren Bent was the lone striker but if he wasn't available 4-5-1 was a waste of time. Rommedahl was far less effective at home partly because teams sat a fraction deeper and partly because he was asked to play a role he was unfamiliar with and couldn't adapt. I thought he was a good signing at the time because we needed a right winger but on reflection he was too lightweight and didn't seem to have much of a cross on him.....Watford away for Ambrose's late header springs to mind but I'm struggling to remember anything else.
  • His contribution for the first goal was very impressive, making the run down the right, keeping onside and then delivering a peach of a ball just out of reach of the keeper and right on the toe of Bendtner's boot. The second was a superb finish but he was given so much room.

Agree with that and Len's post. Wrong player for us and probably the Premier League. Not good enough, at least consistently, for us to let him not worry about defending.
  • Yes he had a good game, and he had a good game for us, every 20 matches or so....... Talented and fast, but lightweight and luxury IMO.Bit like a Tottenham squad player.......
Seemed to play well for half a game and then fade, the trouble is as Curbs said on tv once ....... 'you never knew what half it would be' harsh , but fair I am afraid.
  • Well played, Dennis - really enjoyed that. Hope Denmark qualify for the knockouts so that he can get 100 caps.

Part of the problem was that he just wasn't "one of the lads" at Charlton. A culture clash a bit like the one going on between Capello and the England squad, I imagine.
