Thanks to @grahambustertutt for mentioning the Cambridge United historical site 100 years of Cocnuts in his book .
I love these types of site and I have looked on it for some info on players who played for both clubs .
Flash ended his career with a few games at the Abbey Stadium and this article which I suspect is based on a programme article tells of how he landed at Cambridge . Did Lennie really only offer him a contract at 50% of his salary ? It also tells the story of his fight with Hales .
Not sure how true it is but I remember reading that Lawrence wanted to resign him after he played in Gritt’s testimonial against Spurs in the late 80’s. Wasn’t allowed as Flash had received an insurance payout after his career was ended by injury whilst at Cambridge.
That might make sense as he was back at the club in a coaching capacity, but still playing a bit in non league. I found this quite detailed article about his time at Margate where he played under Colin Powell
