Elliott - 3 Frankly he has worried me now for some time. Not dominant or demonstrative enough. Poor day at the office
Jenkinson - 7 After nervy start played really well. Need somebody ahead of him though
Doherty - 3 A real 'mare. I like his passion but the flesh is too weak.
Dailly - 6 He is an accomplished defender in the twilight of his career. He needs the right partner
Fry - 4 Distribution poor. Where was he for their first?
McCormack - 4 He is a trier with very little to offer, and sure enough he tried hard but offered little
Semedo - 7 More stirling work for Jose.
Jackson - 5 Not really sure what to make of JJ lately. He pops up in dangerous areas but offers little elsewhere
Ecclestone - 6.5 Tried hard, might have scored with a bit of luck
Bradley Wright Philips - 6 Pretty anonymous bar the goal
Abbott - 6.5 Although not everything he tried came off, I thought he did OK. Great shot which hit the woodwork

Racon - 6.5 Looked good when he came on. So often though its his alter ego who shows up.
Reid - 6 Lively enough. Needed longer to make an impact.

none of the subs were on the pitch long enough to mark, however thought Racon did ok when he come on, with a particularly decent run in the box

Some very harsh scores for this game. Are we scoring the individual performances or the result?

Some very harsh scores for this game. Are we scoring the individual performances or the result?

    Well that's a difficult one, isn't it?

Someone like a keeper doesn't have a lot to do for much of the match, when he's 30,40,50 60 yards from the ball for long periods of play. When the ball does come his way, for the most part he's efficient and tidy enough and even makes a good save. Then he makes two mistakes, which occupy less than one minute out of the 90 plus. So do you give him a 6 for not doing anything wrong for most of the game? Or do you mark him a four because he made a couple of momentary errors which cost the game?

Ditto a central defender like Doherty. Dealt with everything very adequately most of the time. Then made a couple of scholboy errors. Do you give him six for dealing with 18 out of the 20 balls he had to clear? Or do you mark him down to a four for the couple which he screwed up and which led to goals?

Different people will take a different view and we can't impose a rigid rule which says one is right and the other wrong, IMO.

  • Maybe we should add a rating for the manager regarding his tactical decisions during a game? Think it's only fair.

  • Elliott 6 - Good distribution, could have done better with first goal
Jenkinson 7 - He played very well, impressed.
Doherty 6 - Up until his 'gaff' he won most in the air, oh and set up SWP's goal
    Dailly 6 - OK Game
Fry 5 - Not attack minded enough, looked nervouse on the ball
McCormack 3 - Bad game, I'm not a fan off McOxo, bottled a couple of tackles.
Semedo 5 - He is what he is, just wish he had a shot on him.
Jackson 5 - Good ahead of their defence in the first half, pretty much anonymous in the second.
Ecclestone 6 - should have scored twice, worked hard.
Bradley Wright Philips 5 - Had to come too deep sp was out of position to pick up Abbots knock ons.
Abbott 6 - Good game, good hold up play and he seems to have lost a bit of weight, unlucky not to score.

Racon 6 - In for the next game
Reid 6 - linked up with others well
Wagstaff - Not on long enough cant give a score

On any other day we would have won this match, we should have been 2 up at the break!!
  • Agree with Henry Irving's sentiments above. Didn't think this was as bad as some other home performances. Just watched the highlights again and we should've put them out of sight before they scored. I thought 3 players had stinkers, everyone else did alright.
