Come on everyone, the season hasn't started yet, pre season is going well, why can't we just enjoy it rather than over criticise a player for an incident that most of us hadn't seen.
  • i dont think we need a whipping boy we need to be 100 % behind everyone, for the first time in 3 seasons we have something to look forward too, if thats how its gonna be all season i can see Charlton Life becoming a lonely place

leave the slagging off of players and mgmt to other sites

unless its francis and mcoxo ;-)

Was good just seeing those highlights. It's so early in every team's preparations that you can't read anythning much into these results, but what was good to see was some of the neat passing, balls over the top etc. Morale build is always a key factor too, so a sense that the players are begining to gel quite early is a very good thing and we are scoring goals across different players and areas of the pitch, so equally good to see. I think we may enjoy this season a lot more than the last 4.

You can watch the game highlights on Bristol City Player -not on CAFC player yet but your cafc password gets you in.

Bover's direct runs from deep look very promising, not happy with the way BWP and Benno tried to walk it into the goal though, should have shot earlier
  • The best thing about winning these pre-season friendlies (and hopefully playing reasonably well is the almost hidden bonus of building team morale. It tends to give you an extra bounce from a personal and team perspective
  • The only thing so far that worries me is we still are not scoring in the first half!

really happy bover is making a name for himself. whenever a youngster is playing with raw talent and enthusiasm it lifts the club as a whole...players and the fans. hope he continues to impress and improve.

re the morrison and elliot mix-up, these things happen pre-season and when new players enter the team. get them out the way now when it doesnt matter. saying that i dont think elliot is good enough and all ive heard about sullivan is good things. hopefully he's our no1 next season.

Good game - I think we matched Bristol City who had been out here a few days longer. Ground only opened in March - the grass in the old one in the center of town is still being cut. New ground smart but fairly basic - reminded me a bit of Chester's ground -  stands on three sides and the changing rooms are behind a goal with a grass changing pitch between them and the goal - an area a bit like Leeds had in the 1970's that always seemed to be covered in straw.  Capacity 3512 - I would guess about 250 at the game - probably 20 Charlton and 80 Bristol City - apparently BC fans initially told game on Monday so some went home on Tuesday.   By now you should have realized that the numbers on the team sheet for the second half were not right and Sullivan played first half. Debutante Evina looked ok if not spectacular - Wiggins looks the more accomplished left back. Trailist Diaz looked ok but difficult to shine in 45mins in a back four that had not played together before.

FFS please say you're joking!? Can I just reiterate - these are friendlies!!!!!!

In the words of Graham Taylor: "You go and worry then...but don't make the rest of us f##king worry!"

The highlights are on the Bristol City player. It looks like we had the best of the chances

no need to have a dig at anyone Dan , let them do their own digging

for what it's worth (whih is less than nothing) imo

i think he isn't that good a communicator , not light/quick enough on his feet, his handling isn't what i'd expect from a professional keeper and after 100 + games in the side there hasn't been any improvement as far as i can see , i actually think his distribution is reasonable

if he was to get his nutdown and lose some weight and not regain it,he may make himself a sharper keeper

not seen enough of sullivan to know whether he is better

agreed - it was a bit of a daft post by me really (both of them) - i shouldn't post past past 10pm just coz i'm bored. Never mind, for what my opinion is worth i think Elliot is a decent keeper and i'm told he was on £200 a week when he first broke into the team - Neville Southall always looked to be carrying a bit of weight even when he was at his peak.

From the video footage watched on Citys player, our defence still looks a bit iffy, great second half performance though.

Yeah plenty of times in the early stages Sullivan came out to grab it at the City players feet, who's fault that is I don't know.

But isn't it to be expected that higher division opposition will have a few chances? Are we being a bit too harsh here.

Of course and will be even harder on them (Defence) come Friday night, no not being harsh at all just commenting on the footage I've seen.

it was just the nature of those chances City created in that first little spell on the hightlights. Great keeping by Sullivan but it shouldn't need to reach that point so often.

Unfamiliarity in defence is going to show up worst on a highlights package like that a) because good defence is built on good organisation and that isn't going to be there after just 2 games together, and b) if Doc and Morrisson (or whoever) aren't on each other's wavlength, then that'll likely lead to a chance and that will be included in the highlights. If BWP and Hayes get their wires crossed then it'll result in an over hit pass and a thrown in, or something, and won't be on the highlights.
  • Sorry , just woken up ,  is there a link with highlights of last nights game?
