Quo?
No. Sniffin' Glue 1976.
The go and out and have a go ethos of punk summed up in one picture.
[cite]Posted By: charltonkeston[/cite]Nothing wrong with the punk ethos, a much needed breath of fresh at the time. But I believe music needs talent as much as raw enthusiasm.
To call Punk music a breath of fresh air is a bit rich if you ask me...it was the exact opposite....more like a huge fart as a matter of fact
Can't speak authoritatively to that, but in terms of timing, I saw something on imdb that indicated that they originally shot a 20 minute film that was the basis for getting financing or something like that. I suspect that the idea was bouncing around for a while prior to release.
I went to see Spinal Tap in 1992 at the Albert Hall. They filmed the gig for DVD 'The Return Of Spinal Tap'. I did not realise it was being filmed at the time, but it certainly explained the huge amount of half naked Rock Chicks with very big hair who were jumping up and down all around me.
I have been to my fair share of punk gigs where the music was much better but I have never enjoyed the audience so much!
The Clash, Buzzcocks = timeless. A few others stand the test of time, but not many!
I agree Henry, there was a lot of rather forgetable pony about.
However, Subhumans who arrived on the scene, were, and still are, one of the best bands ever.
Not to mention the west coast US punk scene that developed in the eighties (SST records etc. - Black Flag, Minutemen etc. as well as east coast scene such as Minor Threat etc.) quality.

Have to say I agree with ColinTat there.
Spinal Tap is one of the greatest films ever in my opinion. After reading this thread I'm gonna have to watch it again I think.
"We don't literally say it"
"We don't actually mean it"
"I think that makes our position clear"
What, you mean we've got a bigger dressing room than the puppets?
Written by one.
You are so naive young man.
Shuck the coney! Ow!*
*Might not be what he actually says, but who can really tell?

If you've got nothing to say about the film then why spoil an otherwise decent thread?

Is that allowed?
I have been to the IMDB website and they say:
Spinal Tap released 02/03/1984
Bad News Tour aired on C4 24/01/1983
Surely this must be wrong?
Perhaps I am just blind in my devotion!
Me too. Tap is very very funny as a comedy and as a send up of the pretentious fawning rock documentries/films of the time.
Punk was good at the time and badly needed even if only 5% of it still stands up. Then again you can say that about most music genres.

Oh, and all their amps went up to 11.
