Sam Bartram - sport shop

Sam Bartrams shop was always on the corner.

This picture is around 1950/51/52/53 as Frank Lock is in the picture and he was transferred to Liverpool in about 1954 with Johnny Evans.

I am fairly sure the player between Benny Fenton and Jack Shreeve is Eric Gill who later joined Brighton where he played in goal for many years.

Jack had just retired and was club coach with Jimmy Trotter as trainer.

Other players I recognise are Cyril (Squibs ) Hammond ,Bert Johnson Billy Kiernan Stuart Leary and Eddie Firmani.

Anyone have a closer look today?

The end "house" was clearly a shop previously, and the curb doesn't look as though it's moved in years.

No sign of the players in their training gear though - or indeed the terrace of houses in the background. When did they go and why - anyone?
