My Dad had his retirement do up town last Friday,hes a lifelong Addict,born and brought up in the house dead opposite the East stand turnstiles and loves his club with a passion. His bosses wife works with Walshy and it was arranged by my dads boss for Colin to attend the retirement do. Much to my old mans surprise,Walshy turned up,tapped him on the shoulder and said "Hello Tony,remember me?" Colin stayed for nearly the whole evening,taking his turn buying the beers and presenting my Dad with a signed Charlton football,his Charlton Legends shirt that he wore and a replica FA Cup Final shirt. He was full of stories about playing for Brian Clough at Forest,playing for Curbs and about the current Charlton team. He also said that from top to bottom at Charlton,Powelly is loved by all and the players hold him in very high esteem. Before he left,he told my Dad that he would leave his name + guests on the list for the Millenium Lounge for Saturdays game. Unfortunately neither myself or my brother could go to the game due to being at work
but Dad and his mate went and were greeted in the lounge like old friends by Walshy both before and after the game. Dad had probably one of the best weekends of his life
and hasnt stopped telling everyone all about it. So, Mr Colin Walsh,if you are reading this,on behalf of me,my family and most of all,my Dad.....THANK YOU,you are a gentleman and a true Charlton Legend!!!

I have a spot of man love for Walshie and in particular his left foot. What a great chap too...
He most certainly is........he never forgets a face and 'always' has a smile and a warm handshake for any Addick.
He works at all our home games of course as a 'corporate hospitality' host a job which he loves doing and that he does very very well I may add.
Believe he also has a building company specialising in patios and paths etc......I've seen one or two of his completed projects and it's top-drawer workmanship. He actually does much of the work himslf and doesn't shy away from getting his hands dirty.
Lovely man is Colin.

My birthday is on December 5th and my husband bought me the signed picture of Walshie scoring that goal that was being sold in the club shop during Walshies testimonial year. When he explained the fact that this was a birthday present for me, the club spoke to Walshie and said they would do something special.
The day of my birthday that year was the 2-0 victory at Millwall in the snow, the night before I was watching Monday night football when there was a knock at the door, I opened it to find Colin Walsh with the picture standing on my doorstep he came in for a cup of tea and a good chat about that day and was an absolutely lovely guy. Total legend in my eyes, he didn't have to put himself out like that he actually came straight from training with a local kids side.
Yep, a top bloke! I remember a lock in at a pub in Belvedere years back 1990(?) with Walshie & Mike Salmon. Pretty sure it was the day we were knocked out of cup at WBA. Think he missed a penalty also! Poured with rain all day, miserable. He was in top form though, stories of his days at Forest with Cloughie, UEFA game v Celtic, unplayed sub for Scotland etc. Remember he was interested in coaching our Sunday team, not sure if it was the beer talking. Would like to think not. He said that was something a lot of the guys did at Forest (youth teams etc) and he missed it as it didn't happen at Charlton. Regret not following up on that offer.....
Anybody remember him playing for Boro against us at Selhurst whilst on loan? Very odd game, we had Alan Kernaghan, a Boro loanee playing for us .....

Sounds like a top man , nice to hear those stories.
I do remember that game Bermuda , Washie had fallen out of favour with Lennie and we had a problem at centre half so we did a loan swap for Kernaghan . Of course later Lennie travelled to Ayrsome Park that summer to buy Kernaghan and ended signing up to be Boro manager instead.
Back to Walshie , I think he benefitted from the change in management and under Curbs and Gritty he came back into form and of course scored the famous goal
What a great story and Colin Walsh is obviously a gentleman as well as a Charlton legend.

Work for an accountantcy firm mate, and Colin works in reception/ security. Really lovely fella.
PS wasnt emphasising it's a massive office for any reason other than it is as in he's one of hundreds of us there, so as to not give the impression im sitting eating my sarnies next to his desk and him helping me with me sudoko every day ha ha
Top man is Colin, met him a few years ago doing a promotional football thing in Asda Greenhithe, agreed to do a football team trophy presentation for me at the Lib club a few weeks later, unfortunately it never happened due to him being stuck in Edinburgh due to trains, still have his contact numbers. Had a very drunken conversation with him on the terrace at Pompey way back in 2000/2001 promotion season (both of us were) Every time I see him he very kindly remembers my name and says hello, gentleman.
Surprised Forest sold him to us for what was not a massive fee at the time. Seem to recall it was about £100k. He lacked a bit of pace maybe and would sometimes slow the play down a bit at times but he was a class player.
