Well, as suggested, I tipped Richard off about this thread, and for sure by now he has read it. Whether that was such a good idea having read some of the more recent posts, I'm not sure, but over the years he learnt that in a football crowd there are all sorts...I am sure he will have been very moved by all the kind words.
I do not agree that this thread was premature. If we don't go up from this position, that will not be Richard's fault, this squad is quite strong enough to get us there, especially with an eight point lead. However when I recall where we were a year ago, I shudder, and then am very thankful for where we are now.
Just close your eyes and imagine Sebastian Sainsbury, a dodgy estate agent, Parky, and Simon Francis...
Just read the odd number pages, nostalgic but very difficult reading.
Nobody can take away RM's achievements in building the modern Valley as we know it. With Curbs they gave us the premiership Years. Since then ... well we all know the history.
Whenever I think of him now my mind is a jumble of thoughts with no conclusions. Such a pity RM and Peter Varney fell out.
Reading from the start, for those of us who 'had his number' (to coin a popular phrase), when his ego got out of control in 2005/6, and could see the reality of what was happening; well it goes to show the tide we were swimming against. It gives me no pleasure at all to say we've been vindicated umpteen times over.
For this thread to be posted in 2011 and have such affirmation is just shocking.
Info from Airman recently states that Roland's fall back from his bat shit crazy football experiment was to build flats on the Valley. Murray would have been fully aware of this but still tied his colours to Roland's shitty mast.
As big a parasite as any of the others that have darkened our door in recent times.
