I didn't think Spurs looked more classy though - first half was even and we edged second half but tired in the last 10 when they came more into it. Think on the balance, we deserved the win.

    Nottm Forest vs Chelsea
    Fulham vs Burnley
    Newcastle vs Blackburn
    Man United vs Charlton

Lowest ranking team left and one of three league Clubs

3 out of 8 quarter finalists outside of the PL.

Does that suggest that the bigger clubs really do just pick up the talent rather than producing it?

But look at who the three teams are? Burnley were in the Prem very recently and are well known for their youth development, Forest have a very good reputation for youth development every since Paul Hart was there and perhaps before. And Charlton.

People have been talking about this batch of players for 3 or 4 years as one of the best groups as opposed to individuals for a long while.

Very true, but you'd expect the likes of Arsenal, City, Liverpool (and of course Palace and West Ham who have the best academies in the world) to be really involved at this stage.

I don't pay a hell of a lot attention to the national youth league to be honest so was just wondering.

Fantastic. Feels like Hart is having an effect already.
Perhaps true, but massive credit to Steve Avory........he is one fantastic coach, and person.

Couldn't agree more - he's been doing fantastic work over the years and needs full recognition.

Nature of a knock out competition that some "best academy in the world" teams will play other powerful teams.

Our U18 league games show us holding our own with the likes of West Ham, Arsenal, Southampton and Palace.

Also some eligible Prem club players may already be out on loan to league Clubs

    Brilliant result.
  • Remember playing united in an evening match at the valley and there was severe crowd congestion. I don't think I got in till 20 minutes into the first half. Think united had a lot of their golden generation playing but the score escapes me. I bought mutv for game up there when miles Weston and Harry arter played for us. Think we got spanked. Come on boys, third time lucky.

Will the Man U game be on MUTV this time- I think I might be able to get that on Virgin?
  • That FA report made me die a little inside. If they're not going to properly bother, they shouldn't bother at all.
