He was responsible for mine and many others greatest football moment - I suspect I will never experience that again in my lifetime - yes we will gain sucess but that magical day was unrepeatable. I feel I owe him.
  • Is he still the last player to score a hat trick in a competitive match at Wembley?

Without doubt, the greatest memory of watching Charlton. Watch the entire match at least 3 times a year when I need cheering up.

Like most here, I also hope these items stay within the club.

I'm pretty sure that he took up gambling full time.
  • unfortunately not tangoflash - for a start, scott sinclair scored a hat-trick in last year's championship play-off final...a tap-in and two penalties though so nothing of Mendonca proportions. does rather tarnish Mendonca's statistics though unfortunately.

To be honest, the Charlton v Sunderland play off game was so superb and Clive's hat-trick was far more special. Have a look at www.mendoncacollection.com for Clive's items for auction

Regarding the 2 medals for winning the championship, there are 2 medals. The sponsor (Nationwide) medal and the hallmarked gold league medal

How can you make a bid when you can't see the current highest bid amount ?

Not sure this is going to be very successful.

Not so much an "auction" - more like........ "how much will you give me for it ?"

I can't see any committment to part with an item to the highest bidder either.

Hi, the highest bid amount is contained in the drop down lists on the page. Clive is being updated by Steve Jones and the items will go to the highest bidder. If you have any concerns or queries, please speak with Steve.
  • Syem - if you don't mind me asking, what is your involvement in this? I note you've been a member here for 24 hours and have posted three times on this site, all on this thread. Would I be correct in guessing that you are a friend/relative of Clive Mendonca?

see from that site that you can meet Clive when he visits the London area on 25th February. Seeing as we play Stevenage at home on that day seems to suggest we will be seeing Supa at The Valley.

Hi BlackForestReds, You are correct that I am a friend of Clive's. I am helping Steve Jones with the sale of the items. Steve is main contact, I am just helping where I can. I did write to the admin of this site advising why I was joining as I did not want to be disrespectful to them or to anyone else on here.

SYEM....I am actualy interested in the play-off medal.
However I cannot see the current highest bid...As you pointed out I can see the item in the drop down list, but not the highest amount bid, that info seems not to fit in the box?
Or am I dong something wrong?

SoundAsa£ - I will look into this for you and revert.

Addick90. Steve Jones has contacted the club to advise them. I am not aware that the club has made an offer. Having seen the items, I would think that the club would be interested in all the play off items and his medals.
  • I assume you're referring to a different Steve Jones and not the player from the same era as Clive?!

No, the very same. Steve and Clive are good friends and have been in contact for years. It must have been that cross in the play-off that has kept them close mates!

ok then thats good that the club has been contacted, im pretty sure theyll buy 1 of each if not all the medals and maybe the match ball, though they may let the boots/shirt go to auction for fans! would be good if they could keep them all as a collection, that way clive could always have access to them.
  • Medal is currently at £150 and play off shirt is at £100
