GMB is so much better than Aunty Beebs Breakfast TV, Morgan says it as it is, I like people who call it. Trouble is that Morgans narcissistic nature gets in the way of truly liking him, I agree with many things he says, but then he spouts some other crap, and I just think 'cock'. Im confused..... Still better than Dan whatsisface and Naga on the sterile BBC though.

You can hardly compare the two though can you.
ITV morning TV consists of Morgan & Reid constantly arguing about childish trivial stuff, Twitter polls, competitions and adverts.
BBC reports the news be it in a stale, sterile way.
If I want a laugh and take the piss out of someone then its ITV.
If I want to know what is going on the world then it is BBC.
I can't stand the man, the fact that he's got such a prominent job in the media despite all he's been caught doing in regards to the comparatively minor offence of the city fiddling, the fake photographs he sanctioned of British soldiers abusing prisoners that turned out to be a pair of wanker red top 'journalists' in the back of a hired luton van with a bottle of Evian and a Hessian bag is something I find a bit more hard to forgive than a lot of the great British public

For the reasons above I tend to watch Sky's Sunrise on the Sky News Channel.
It avoids the ultra sterile BBC presentation and the fun filled, happy clappy, show bizzy, competition fun filled minutes of ITV. ... oh and Piers (*******) Morgan.
BBC Breakfast is certainly not sterile and staid. There is some great rapport between the presenters, who change from time to time, and the specialists journos from sport, fiance etc. It's quality TV and it informs, educates and entertains which is what the BBC is for. I simply hate having ITV on my telly at any time of the day and always have done.
The worst kind of modern football fan. Probably had no interest in the game until it became fashionable now is elevated to some sort of authority figure on the game because of his inane tweets.
Fair play to Morgan on GMB today, slaughtered some 20 something dickhead SMP for calling Churchill a Rascist and White Supremacist !
Fairplay because Morgan was right or Fairplay because he constantly interrupted someone who has the temerity to challenge the entirely whitewashed version of Churchill that we are fed by the establishment

It was an interesting debate in which both held their own, which irked Morgan a little I thought. The problem is, when two misguided people argue from positions that are a little bit wrong and a little bit right, they have the conviction to oppose each other. Sadly, I think both sides de-humanise Churchill in different ways, who IMO was one of the greatest ever Britons. But whilst he was a major part of winning the war, he did not win it single handedly, and Morgan's assertion of this insults other great people and shows the same levels of ignorance that the young Scottish Green MP had. The MP has the excuse of youth though.
Churchill should be admired for his strengths, but also have his weaknesses acknowledged too. He was the leader we needed in our time of need. He had a view of empire born from his times and upbringing. To judge him as if he was living today, as the young SMP did is totally wrong and unfair.
I think one of the best ways to try to understand Churchill is to read what the Labour leader Clement Attlee wrote about him. Attlee was his deputy and strong supporter during the war and despite being an opponent outside of war was a friend. From his words, you can see the clear mightyness of Chruchill the man, but also an honesty about the weaknesses - as Attlee saw them of course. You can see a man of compassion too, alongside a steely resolve. Which goes against what some of the haters, like the young SMP might say. I think undertsanding the man makes him greater, because he was a human being not a symbol. Attlee's words on Churchill should be made compulsary reading, and both the young SMP and Morgan may learn a bit from them. It doesn't diminish Churchill's importance to victory, but makes it real, much more so than any Hollywood love in could ever do.

I'm grateful for your erudite and persuasive response. It's really challenged me to rethink the line of my argument
Anybody that has taken an interest to Winston Churchill knows that the guy had some really warped views on certain things and was far from perfect. But this thing of trying to bring down a man thats admired by many for what he was part of during some of this countries darkest days, is attention seeking and just smacks of being 'controversial' for self gain.
I don’t think it’s yet possible to have a rational discussion of the British Empire and some of the things that went on in this country, it’s still too recent.
Churchill was a man of his times and shouldn’t be judged by today’s standards. He was a true British hero (maybe the greatest) for his inspirational leadership during WW2 but that shouldn’t diminish our ability to criticise some of his views/actions which, even at the time, were pretty extreme - that right is, after all, incorporated into the freedom he won for us.
