Rose tinted as an 11 year old maybe, but in my eyes this will never be beaten and I don't want it to be. World Cup Final 1970 Carlos Alberto makes it 4-1....
Wiggins to Taylor Taylor to Morrison Morrison to Stephens Stephens to Hollands Hollands back to Morrison Morrison goes past four players gives it to Wiggins Wiggins passes down the line to Jackson Jackson with the ball, passes to Wright-Phillips (Charlton fans moan and boo) ball to Chris Solly GOAL!
Not the best goal ever scored, but still a great strike. What makes this extra special is that I watched this with my wife, brothers-in-law and father-in-law (who are all Sicilian), on Italian TV, with that exact commentator. Pandemonium, and I will never forget my brother-in-law's face, with that split second of astonishment, followed by the most insane roar you have ever heard. Love the celebration as well - almost as good as Tardelli's 24 years earlier
Messi's goal got a standing ovation as if everyone was saying 'thank you that was the best goal I have ever seen'. That one and Maradona's against us are the best goals for me. Can anyone find the Van Basten volley? Can't recall who it was against but it was some ridiculous angle. Also, Justin Fashanu for Norwich against Liverpool I think, is another great volley.
Mine's Derek Hales' goal of the season against Hull City 1976. I was fortunate enough to be there, as were the ITN cameras. It's also on the Charlton 1970s video to enjoy again and again.
The moment Derek nailed the volley we knew we had witnessed history, more for Paddy Powell's diagonal corner flag to corner flag run (with and without the ball) than anything.
Getting the season's Golden Goal also meant some rare media coverage for the Valiants.
Steve brown against I forget which team when he hit the ball so hard there was a time lapse before we all realised it had gone in...what other goal has ever done that ?
im amazed that there is no Tony Yeboah goals on this thread or Eric Cantona goals Zolas mid air back flick? Ronaldo (the fat one) from his barcelona days... Patrick Klivert? Alan Shearar Not to mantion Kim Grant against Liverpool 1996 CAFC coca cola cup match.

Love this goal but obviously not the best goal ever.
