For me it was the Bobby Charlton goal against Mexico in the 1966 World Cup. We had looked a bit pedestrian in the opening game (which we drew 0-0 against Uruguay) and we badly need something to lift the team and the millions of English fans watching. Bobby collected the ball just inside the England half strode forward a few paces, feignted to the left and let fly from 30 odd yards, the Mexican keeper didn't stand a chance as it flew past him into the top corner WHAT A GOAL....from then on we never looked back....we eventualy won 2-0. One often wonders what would have happened if he hadn't scored that wonder strike and set the team on it's way to the impending 'oh so glorious' achievments. So for me personaly, 'that' was the greatest ever goal and will remain engrained in my memory for ever.

Bobby Charlton for England 1966 World Cup V Mexico, not only a wonder strike but much needed by both the England team and the entire Nation…. hadn’t set the world alight up until then but from then on we never looked back. Just seen I posted the same thing 11 years ago….well it was worth another shout IMHO.😃
