To be fair, Carlisle have TS style owners, have cycled through managers with different playstyles and are now in the NL
That's an even weirder one! They've spent loads on players and managers and have ended up in the NL. Am surprised Mark Hughes is sticking around

Championship preview from Gab Sutton (writes a lot about EFL). Has us in 21st
Has us finishing 6th which obviously I’d be more than happy with. But he also mentioned that Alex Neil has managed Aberdeen, which he hasn’t, so probably take what this fella says with a pinch of salt
It’s not easy to write up 24 teams (72 as he’s done L1 and L2) without making any mistakes in fairness.

There’s a few exceptions but I think he’s got most teams in the right ballpark area
    Yeah fair point

My jobs have been a bit more high pressure than discussing football, that's a dream job.

We shall see. My point is Millwall can have a poor season in the same way we can have a great one. There are a lot of unknowns.
As we know, with the championship, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don't know we don't know.
What the fuck do you know?
Oh, and i know that Gillingham aren’t in the conference
    Yet 🙏🏻

It’s more than “not easy” to accurately preview the respective chances of 72 teams, it’s basically impossible. But it temporarily satiates the never ending demand for content.

Ironically, you could say it’s been paraphrased from the language of the country you live in. If you genuinely don’t know where it’s from you might want to look it up.

Wrestling at Olympic level is a sport. The “wrestling “ Hogan” (RIP)was involved with was show business and theatre.

As Nostradamus fore told in 1557, Hulk Hogan is now being discussed on the 2025 Championship Expectations thread.

Correct me but I think we've signed 9 players that are all unproven at this level.

It's exciting to have signed this many players (and paid good money for them) but have any of them excelled in the Championship???
Only 7 so far and Kaminski, Burke, Bell and JRC are all proven Championship players. Burke and Bell were promoted with Luton, and Luton signed Kaminski to be their PL GK. JRC has never played in L1.

Carey has Championship experience. Only Olaofe and Apter are stepping up for the first time.
I think 3G worded my own reservations incorrectly. They may have Championship experience but they have in fact been signed from League One, except Costello.

They all got relegated from the Championship having played against Championship teams who didn't upon their relegation see an opportunity to seize upon a player now in too low a league in their eyes.

We have to be clear about this, these players came to us because other Championship clubs have not been interested.

I said after promotion that I'd have to wait and see who we sign. My conclusion, despite all the excitement on this site, is still that logically we will finish in the bottom three.

We can hope that the sum of the parts is better than the individuals, and we can hope that our manager will get something extra out of them all. If so we could reach the gold of 20-21st place.

Otherwise we still have to be (one of ?) the favourites to go down. Sorry, I wish I could be more optimistic. I look forward to believable counter arguments to persuade me to feel so.

We will almost certainly have a bottom 3 squad, but we definitely don’t have a bottom 3 manager. So I think he will elevate us out of the bottom 3, but probably finishing in the 17th-21st range

Needs a better midfield for that.

Need about 20 better players for a top 10 finish.

Top 10 would be ridiculous. With the rumoured signings and singings so far, I think an ambition of 16th to 21st would be a more realistic expectation. I would be delighted with 16th or so and then build on it.

100% - lots of silly money paid for silly players by silly clubs - we’re doing shrewd business.

A lot of other clubs fans will see 3m+ for Kelman as silly money.

If we get knibbs aswell I'd expect us to be firmly lower midtable and I'd take that. 13th-15th

The £3 mil will be paid over 3 or 4 years so that doesn't sound so bad

I suspect those comments are more out of fear that a promoted side isn’t going to the pushover they were expecting. In fact, when it comes to it,  neither are the other two promoted sides.

Fan of another club messaged me - our transfer business is definitely getting noticed:

Charlie Kelman, bloody hell you starting to build a very good squad here!

So long as we have the elevated revenue that the Championship brings for those 3 or 4 years…

5-10 years ago a proper investment in the side like this window has been would see a League One club probably cement top half but nowadays the gap between League One and the Championship is so big I still think we will find it very difficult.
We are giving it a go though and that’s all we can ask, hopefully it’s enough to stay up, unfortunately the two sides we’ve come up with are unlikely to go down so we will have to finish above three other sides
