Why is MM finally going to spend that 3486532865milllion you was expecting in Jan?

Well, we are not looking to just 'consolidate' Milan wants promotion again, if we get some new additions there is no reason why not, Rodger Johnson already being linked.

Hey if we finish second again Ill gladly post a pic of the runners up cup for you to laugh at.
  • Yes please. Even if we're relegated (surely not) I'd laugh at the 'promotion cup'! Utterly stupid. Were the players embarrassed to lift it? Celebrate - yes, medals- yes, town hall- if you like, trophy- what!?? :)

So it looks like we are not gonna be able to forget about the deluded Massives again next season... It will be interesting to see how Llera handles the step up... As for big picture well we shall see my friend .... No doubt we will bore ourselves to teas with ' banter' through out the season ....

We know Llera won't handle the step up - for his qualities, and he definitely has some, he is too slow and suspect positionally. I think Semedo will be fine but a lot of their better players were on loan.

Look, with a bit of luck the blades will go up as well and we can leave them to get on with it, like the miserable old married couple they are.

The crowd weren't there for the best losers cup.

If you look closely at the pics, you'll see they are all just queuing up at the job centre.

The cup with is just something to reward the runner up, it's not a cup to me it's a presentation award, bit like the cup we got in the play-off final and personally i never knew you got awarded a runners up trophy but the main thing was we won promotion by piping our City rivals right at the death, we were 4 points adrift with three games to go so it WAS double celebration.

I've not know a season in my lifetime where Wednesday and United have been neck and neck at the top all the way till the last game and it boils down to a last day shootout between the two - it was great and despite L1 was one of the best seasons I've had!

Re Llera, if he doesn't make the step up he will quickly be replaced, Milan made the masterstroke replacing Megson so if we need a replacement for Big Mig in order to strengthen for Promotion next year it will be sorted, I'm looking forward to a season under Dave Jones.

Pig, are you not slightly worried about the make up of your squad for next season? Your best players this season (apart from Semedo) were loans, in Antonio and Batth, so surely just getting these 2 in permenantly is going to use a fair chunk of your budget for the season. Add to this that a number of your players are not exactly young (O'grady, Jones etc) so to really compete next season it looks liek you are going to have to spend a fair amount of money. Do you actually have this money to spend? We all know Milan said he's spend 5 million or whatever it was in Jan, but he never did, so are you confident he actually will this time??

Milan was misquoted and where did he say 5m? he said he would spend meaning financing the team to make it stronger and he did he brought in Antonio (later on) on loan, and a few others, at the end of the day he achieved promotion by spending less then he thought he'd have too - kudos to him.

Not too worried about next season because I think DJ and MM will see us with at least a respectable finish.

That didn't really answer my question did it. Are you not worried that your best players are only on loan, so getting them permenantly would mean a fairly large financial outlay? Add to the fact that you have a fair few ageing players in your squad and surely you need to spend even more replacing them with young, hungry players. Is that type of money available to you? Then after making those changes do you have even more money to actually improve what you have already?

Milan has stated he is willing to invest in Wednesday to get promotion, he stated he is getting on in life and wants promotion to the Premiership asap, our main loans was Antonio, Batth and Ranger they are working to secure these the only one I'm worried about is Batth as Wolves might not let him go.

Dave Jones has gone to the MK V Hudds game today - maybe Gleeson/Hunt etc.

A funny thread, with funny comments, for a massive funny team who have been awarded a funny little cup.

    Funny really if I'm honest.

I'll be surprised if you don't at least challenge for playoffs. Is there much rivalry between you and Leeds, there seems a lot of similarity between you? Because presumably in the transfer market theres gonna be competition between you, them and Hudds or Blades if one of them goes up?

@Addickforlife good points, I agree. OP your key players are on loan and MM (again) says he is going to spend but what happened in Jan? Llera is one of your best players, enough said.

Operationpig: Can you please pass this message from our board on to your club.

"It seems the league has made a mix-up and accidently given us the MASSIVE trophy and Sheffield Wednesday the smaller one. This is obviously a huge error on their part, which we are happy to rectify A.S.A.P."

Seriously, Don't blame you lot for celebrating, considering who you pipped to 2nd place. Must add though, Don't you think Dave Jones has potentially set himself up for a fall by saying that he wants/expects to emulate Norwich/Saints by successive promotions? Nothing wrong with striving for that but has now put huge expectation on his team.
