Quite hard to have a go at him really Leroy. Yes me may have voted against a new income tax law, and who wouldnt, but lets be honest he clearly pays a bucket load of tax, and his charity donations are staggering.
The following 2 lines are taken from his wiki profile:
A report in February, 2012, named Allen as the most charitable living American in 2011. Allen's donations, totaling $372.6 million, were beat out by only two others, both of them are deceased. In March 2012 he continued the funding of the Allen Institute for Brain Science with a contribution of $300 million to look at how we see.
I couldn't give a shit how many millions he's given to chairty - just like every other billionaire 'philanthropist', his charitable donations are for the glorification of his ego, involve funding projects he has a personal interest of involvement in, and are made for tax reasons anyway. If they all just paid a sensible amount of tax, the financial crisis could be eliminated in one fell swoop. I know the taxation system isn't perfect, but it's still better than relying on individuals' idea of what THEY think it's important to fund.
If I recall correctly, doesn't Paul Allen have a really bad reputation as a "patent troll" in Sillicon Valley, meaning he makes most of his money these days by suing start-ups for breaches of patent?
For those not in the know on these matters, that makes him something of an "ambulance chaser" in legal terms.
