  • I'd be dancing around in joy if we got 8m for a kid who did it in league 1

Even if you couldn't replace him with someone as good? Not saying they can't, but I think it will be a struggle.
  • they won't get another 40 goal a season man but half of that fee could get you a top striker in this league.

True, but even 20-goal strikers are as rare as hens teeth and nobody comes with a guarantee.

We should know that better than most, after selling Benty for 16 million in 2007 we really didn't find another proper goalscorer until BWP signed in 2011 - two leagues lower down the chain!
  • And when you lose a superb player for big money you know you can't replace him. So you strengthen the team instead,
  • If i was huddersfield you'd have to see it as good business. it's unlikely he'll hit the heights of last year again and you're selling him at the peak of his value, seems alot like the carroll/newcastle situation as their star man is gone with no time to sign a replacement but the money is there for january/next summer. + their team will be stronger for it as jordan rhodes would not of got hudders promoted from the champ on his own like he did in league 1.
  • Wonder if Simon Jordan is a Lifer too...
  • Just want to make clear, neither myself or any other moderator provided this information.

Well I won't believe it until it's on the OS, etc...
  • I'm not sure he has been sold at his peak. He's scored three goals in three games this year, including a goal on his international debut for Scotland!

  • Apparently on 45k a week, Jordan if you read this, lend us a tenner?
  • 45k a week for a championship player , thats a heck of a risk?
  • If Blackburn are throwing that kind of money around, if they don't go up they could be in serious trouble

Said kid happened to be the highest goalscorer in all of england across divisions.

Yes - but what he is saying is that it was league 1. He isnt proven in the Champ yet, and I seem to remember him looking very quiet against us at The Valley.

Im glad damo understood, if a guy got 50 goals in league 2 you wouldn't rate him higher than a champ striker would ya?

But those goals might have been enough to keep them in the Championship though.
  • Rhodes has already scored a couple this season, not saying that means he's proven at this level though.
  • rhodes looks a classier act than jermaine beckford ever did , he always and still looks a bit raw
  • How much in transfers and wages have blackburn spent this season?.

    8mil ?
Must be something like 4m up front, 2 mil if promoted and 2 mil if stay up after that.

I think Rovers are the team to beat.

I think they have the best squad but the managers hopeless and the squad isn't so good that they'll get up despite the ineptitude of the manager.
  • I think Blackburn will win the league only thing stopping them in the long run is there fans stupid antics.

Kean clearly gets the players liking and playing for him so if the fans just got off his back he will get them promoted even if he is not the greatest manager.

Also looked quiet against a few of the other 'big' teams in the league.

Scored a faire few hat-tricks and 4's against the smaller teams though.
  • i do worry for some clubs money they are spending they need to go up
  • Massive risks maded by the Indians... Why didn't they spend this money when actually in the prem... Very strange bunch...

rumoured to be because they thought the PL was a closed shop and by the time they realised it wasn't it was too late

venkys are a joke....headless chickens is the right analogy. I would never wish them upon another club.

  • Noticed on the BBC the fee was spread over the length of the contract which is 5yrs.

I reckon if they don't go up this year he could be back at Uddersfield next year when the Fire sale has to happen
  • S'hampton paid 7 million for Rodrigues. Rhodes is a much better bet than him
