Do you know for sure he's miming? Haven't seen or heard that anywhere.

    I have a reliable sauce.
Absolute tosh, my mate regularly holiday's at Keefs place, she is best mates with Dandelion (Angela, Keefs daughter), apart from a bit of arthritis, hence he plays in open G all the time now, Richards is in great health. She told me months ago that they were rehearsing and it sounded great.
I think you've been taken in by Keefs notoriety, he's not fucked up at all, surprisingly!
Keef is a purist, a white bluesman/rock n roller so do you really think he would be miming?
Well that's told me, you are clearly itk and I'm clearly a wum.

Bow to your better knowledge Greenie the rumours apppeared in the press suggesting residual problems following KR's head injury. By the way he remains a guitar hereo for me....totally unique
  • If anyone gets tickets and doesn't want em I'll take em off you.....

Was meant to see em a few years back on a Sunday at Wembley Arena but they cancelled the date and brought it forward 24 hours to the night before.......unfotunately I was away on holiday until then so couldn't go.

    Love the Stones.....
  • The O2 is a terrible music venue anyway.

Sorry to get a bit defensive, but it irks me when these rumours start.

Personally I think Keef the Riff is one of the best songwriters the world has ever seen.
  • I read in Ronnie Wood's autobiography that when a new tour is announced he has to teach Keef the songs. Slightly more than a rumour.
  • Gutted, bet this means they are at Glastonbury next year n I didnt bother getting tickets

Correct Saga, however thats a big difference to miming.

As you know I write, and have written loads of songs over the years, I am rehearsing with a band I used to play with in the 80's/90's. I've had to re-learn songs I wrote then! I had to listen to old tapes/Cds to remember them!! And being shown how it goes in the studio! With Richards back catalog it must be a nightmare, especially as Jaggers 'voice' has changed over the years, they must all be in different keys.

'its only rock n roll' - Bollox!

I wonder what would happen, hypothetically of course, if Ronnie couldn't remember them either.

    Are you Glenn Tillbrook?

  • The O2 is a terrible music venue anyway.

Can't agree with that personally. I think the acoustics in there are very good

  • Bloody hell Karim, mine sound like a bargain!!

    20k a ticket!!
  • The O2 is decent if you're standing or on the lower tier.

I did find it a bit strange when I saw a heavy metal gig there and there were guys sat down on the top tier eating nachos.
  • edited October 2012
Everyone knows you should eat goat-cheese stuffed mushrooms at a heavy metal gig!

Tour cancelled, I imagine - they'd make up some excuse like 'it's for tax reasons'. ;-)

Possibly, I mean they surely wouldn't ever dream of getting other people in to play those parts would they? Not the legendary Rolling Stones!

Of course all hypothetical, there is absolutely no basis for my comments whatsoever
  • Was tempted by these gigs, until we saw the price. Nothing can top being in the 2nd row at Twickenham a few years ago for their last tour anyway so not too fussed we can't afford to go.

Going to see the film tonight (Crossfire Hurricane) on at Canary Wharf. Think its a preview or something with live links to the red carpet in leicester square?!

Greenie you are obviously a much more accomplished musician than I am but the music is hardly complex and remember The Stones finished their last tour in 2007 which is not 20-30 years ago. I agree with all your comments but it is also possible that the effects of the head injury and the hedonism is now catching up as reported and would partly explain why a full tour is not happening.

Col, I assume you dont like the greatest Rock n Roll band then?

BTW, I may be wrong, but are you the same poster that didn't have a good word for Ronnie Wood a while back?
  • Live Event: The Rolling Stones "Crossfire Hurricane" is being broadcast tonight from the London Flim Festival by satellite to Odeon's and other cinemas from 6.15. Still time for fans provided not sold out
  • Wrong again Greenie, I do like the Stones, rather I like their music. If you look further up the thread I mentioned I went to the last tour, I wouldn't have forked out a ton to watch a band I didn't like (even if it did include a free jolly up).

What I won't do is defend a band at any cost. You clearly love them. Nothing wrong with that, but from what I have heard I wouldn't defend them from the rumours that have been flying about for this tour.

And yes you are right I was the one who didn't have a good word for Mr Wood.

Good shout DA9. I understand your love for all things Elvis.

Thing is I would love to see the Stones in a small 400 max venue, not in a stadium or O2. Playing the older bluesy, rock n roll stuff. I know they do unannounced small gigs before a world tour, but I dont think this is the case for these couple of gigs.
I am waiting for a message from my friend concerning tickets and possible small gigs.

and we have 3 spare tickets for Canary Wharf if anyone fancies them - starts at 6.15!!!!

But you probably would have seen him many times already so the attraction not as great. Didnt Sinatra tour the UK to half empty music halls in the 60's for instance?

  • £375? I'm baulking at £37.50 for standing tickets for Squeeze in Glasgow in December!

    Fair point

  • Bit of a difference between todays price and 4/6 at Lewisham Odeon around 1964, when you got Little Richard and Bo Diddley thrown in as well!
