Hamer 6 Shouldn't be beaten at the near post
Wilson 8 MOM Showed the most desire by a street today
    Morrison 7
    Cort 7
    Solly 7
Green 6 7 first half 5 second half
    Stephens 5 Poor
    Hollands 5 Poor
Razak 7 I assume he was the one to be sacrificed to go 4-4-2 and as Hollands was so poor JJ was a straight swap
Kerkar 6 Give him his due he kept plugging away but little end product
Fuller 5 I wish he would choose the right studs. Disappointing
Jackson 5 Never got into it
Wright Phillips 6 Tried but no service from a non-existent midfield

    Pritchard n/a 6 Little impact

How can Wilson be marked between 3 and 8? Something not right here. Opinions can not vary that much!
  • Whoever marked Wilson a 3 didn't go today as far as I'm concerned.

  • Hamer - 6
Wilson - 7 MOTM Scared them with his pace, especially towards the end
    Morrison - 6
    Cort - 6
    Solly - 6
    Green - 5
    Stephens - 5
Hollands - 5 - No idea why he came off
Razak - 6 - even less idea why he was hauled up. Was linking up well with Fuller I felt
Kerkar - 6.5 Dangerous running but no end product
Fuller - 5 Ran into blind alleys
Jackson - 5 Worked hard, that was about it
Wright Phillips - 4 Needed to run and pressure the defenders, did so about twice. Was like we were down to 10 men before Fuller went off, then tried a bit towards the end. Not enough

  • Hamer 7 extra point for the point blank save
    Wilson 7.5
    Morrison 7
    Cort 6.5
Solly 7 Lots of left footed passes. Classy!
    Green 5
    Stephens 6
    Hollands 4
    Razak 5
    Kerkar 7
    Fuller 6.5
    Jackson 5
    Wright Phillips 5

Probably still trying to back up their initial assessments of Wilson based on his first game and a half. Sometimes it's easier just to admit you have changed your mind!

  • Waste of time marking players when 3 and 4 are being used , family members can give favourite players top marks , very disrespecting , don't bother.
  • We played some lovely free flowing football at home at the start of last season with Paul Hayes up front. That now seems a distant dream. I don't know if CP's football philosophy has changed, but playing 451 at home seems very negative. Away from home it can be very effective as it was last week. We have to be more attack minded at home.

You are right in theory but, believe me, at the moment the midfield is too weak to play 4-4-2.

We tried in the second half and were largely overrun.

Hamer - 5.5 - Nothing to do but beaten at his near post for the goal
Wilson - 8 - Great going forward and beating people, put him Right mid when Wiggins is fit? - MOTM
Morrison - 6.5 - Some good blocks and tackles
Cort - 7 - I thought he did a really good job on Davies today and dominated the air as per usual
    Solly - 6.5 - Business as usual
Green - 4.5 - He drifted inside to often and let Barnsley have to much space as a result while not doing much going forwards and he slipped for their goal
Stephens - 5.5 - Some good passes but he drifted in and out of the game to often to have any real affect
Hollands - 5 - Same as Stephens just with less nice passes
Razak - 5.5 - Some good link up play with Fuller but he looked lazy at times
Kerkar - 7 - Some great mazey runs were he he beat about 4 people in one go, but his end product is poor. Still was our biggest threat in midfield
Fuller - 6 - Some nice touches but he had little service and no support. Its going to be even harder for us now he's injured
Jackson - 5.5 - A blend of Stevo and Hollands with the same little affect of them both
Wright Phillips - 5.5 - No service and by the time he came on we were into hoof ball mode which isn't his forte
  • Razak- 5 not convinced .seemingly interested sometimes but not always .no point in playing 5 across the middle especially at home unless someone gets forward to support the main striker .it should have been him but wasn't.think that he has a bit more to offer.i sincerely hope so.
Hollands-5 suspect that he has little/ nothing more to offer at this level which is a real shame.just not quick enough and most importantly of all not athletic/ nimble enough .can't help but think this is down to ,for the most part ,his unfortunately bandy legs which preclude sharp acceleration from a standing / slow start.
Kerkar-7 grows into matches and tries hard .tries too hard sometimes and runs into dead ends when he should unload the ball a second or so earlier.could do with an intensive coaching course entitled "end product".
Stephens - 6.5 bloody infuriating to watch. A superbly gifted and elegant player but too much of a stroller to truly boss matches.if he upped his drive and played 15 yards higher up the pitch he would contribute so much more.seems so timid and lacking in confidence at times and god knows why.
Green-4.5 poor .created nothing of note and made a dreadful error in defence that lead to a goal and sadly the winning goal .has some great skill and demonstrates that when he is on his game what a threat he is as the best deliverer of all wide sided players.forgot that he was on the pitch for long periods today.
Fuller- 6 powerful and threatening but too infrequently .he also directed energy unnecessarily into lost / hopeless causes like arguing with iincompetent officials who were never going to change their minds or miraculously discover competency after most of the match had elapsed.not direct enough today and slipped over too often .should have changed his boots at half time.
BWP- 6 tried hard when he came on and held the ball up and laid it off particularly well but he seemed to be playing mostly with his back towards goal which is a total waste.
Jackson -5 could not have been too easy coming on after a lay off to try to add some guile and drive into midfield but simply did not get a grip on the game.
Pritchard-5.5 willing and hard working but looks too lightweight against championship players.
  • I marked Wilson low because he was shocking. Defensively very poor. Caught inside many many times. His distribution was awful. And yes I was at the game. And it was the same thought from everyone around. He's not good enough. For a right back to have the winger inside him so much is diabolical. Evina in and Solly back in his normal place or a loanee in for left back if Evina is not trusted yet.
