I know you all seemed to have turned your nose up to this year's line up, but it's my first time going to Glastonbury so would appreciate any tips from more regular attendees.

What ticket type do you have Wilma? I can share advice with that in mind, but also some general. I have been going for donkeys and my experience has gotten better through better planning. Suzisausage points to that a bit above. It is the best festival in the World imho. Will come back later with more after work. You will love it! 👍
I have a general ticket but I'm staying at the top of the hill in the Worthy View campsite so I don't have to find a good spot and pitch my own tent. I'm aware of the steep hill to/from the main festival site.

I have Lizzo, Newton Faulkner, Arctic Monkeys and Elton (obviously!) on the list to try and see, but most looking forward to seeing Rick Astley as I saw him when I was 14 years old as my first ever gig.

Any recommendations for bands that are outside of mainstream would be good. Also after hours places that aren't dance music.
    Said nobody ever!

You're just never gonna give him up, are you?

if you like Rick Astley, he is rumoured to be playing a set entirely made up of Smiths covers with blossoms. They have played two gigs previously in the same guise. Woodsies, Friday, 19:30 - 20:30 (previous set list below)

Also, clashfinder is your friends for keeping up to date with late changes of times / special guests. https://clashfinder.com/m/g2023/?user=10wwi4.ru

I am not going this year (did not manage to bag a ticket) but I think it is the most magical place on Earth. I secretly hope Pulp turn up but seeming increasingly unlikely.

My top tip is pick 1 or 2 bands a day and take in what you can in between while making your way between stages. You'll discover lots of new music/acts that you've never heard of before. Arcadia is well worth the visit once, even if you don't like the music.
  • The Sun have reported that Hozier is Friday TBA (which I stated was Ashley + blossoms) and Pulp are on TBA on Woodsies on Saturday at 18:00. Who knows what’s going but keep your ears open for secret sets.

He will never let me down
  • Of the lesser-known bands on the lineup, I'd definitely see Warpaint

Pulp would be amazing, I saw them years ago at V Festival. I'm not a Smiths fan but I do like The Blossoms so would probably go along to that.

I'm following a few accounts on Twitter so hopefully will get wind of anything happening with the TBAs.

  • I just can't see why Pulp would not play considering their history with the festival (and Jarvis being there every year in some guise).  Going to see them at Finsbury park the week after Glasto, but this has to be last their last hurrah.

The Churnups are the Foo Fighters if anyone else didn't already know.

The Hives are always good entertainment, Friday at 13:00 on the Other Stage.
  • Good to see The Hu popping up more, they were good at download

Foo fighters were great when I saw them there, same years as Katy perry. Neither are my bag but great live.
  • Anyone know of a Pink Floyd tribute band from Bromley called On The Run?
  • does anybody know the length of flag pole you need not to annoy the fcuk out of everybody around you? I have a flag, but ordered a p*ssing 5ft extendable pole and will be prime target for p*ss raining down on me. SOS!!! What is the right meterage please?

Why do people take those flags?
I hope their view is blocked by someone else’s flag and they are showered with piss.

As tall as you like if you leave it at your tent.
  • Have a great time @Wilma

Suzi’s post got me proper jealous. Would love to do something like this but honestly don’t think physically I’d be up for it. I’d be absolutely broken after a couple of days!

If you go just once, go all in and hire a camper van. I've been spoilt over the years having a caravan supplied when painting and could no way go back to a tent for week. It's great to have that extra option if it's pissing down/roasting hot... cold beers in your fridge etc.
  • I have disbanded the notion of taking a flag. I have never been bothered by the tall ones, of course have it has been in my face, so had not realised how miffed folk get about them. I also don’t like to smell of p*ss. Afka, is your reservation a long Covid thing or other fitness/discipline reasons? The eldest in the group of 20 I am going with is 77 and I willBe ensuring that they have an amazing time without overdoing it. You shouldn’t be discouraged and shine’s idea is a good one. Nowadays, I treat and budget for it like a family holiday, precook lovely accommodation and go in and out by minicar every day.
  • Keep an eye out for Sister Suzie if your there, especially if you like a bit of Rock n Roll.
  • Good to see The Hu popping up more, they were good at download
    Roger Daltrey's still got it!
  • i see that thankfully the anti semitic documetary "Oh Jeremy Corbyn: The big lie" is now not to be shown at glasto as the organisers have seen sense.
  • looking forward to seeing elton on sunday night on the box have seen him live 3 times, twice in states and once at 02 a few weeks back

should have seen him at The Valley - brilliant, we were sat just about on the penalty spot at the JS end
  • So glad I went before it became the commercial crap it is now.
  • So I would now be there and annoyed because 2 of my favourites are on at the same time on different stages. Foo fighters on pyramid and chvches on other. Watching the stream of chvches and she’s just literally sweated her tits off and held them aloft

When I went in 1990, I went to see Prince at Wembley the night before. If I was doing it now, I’d have a week of early nights beforehand.

Even though I was only 22 at the time, I was ruined by Sunday night.

They advertised a big crackdown on illegal substances that year so we didn’t take anything and tried to buy it there. Pretty much everything was crap until me and @Les Berrys Tash bought some cheap trips off a girl. We just assumed they were shit as well so necked 2 each. About an hour later they kicked in and we realised they were far from shit and were off our nuts for hours.
