Shower or Bath?

Renovating me house and some fella I know out here reckons I should do away with me bath and have just a shower. I said that you gotta have a bath in your bathroom, but he reckons he's not had a bath for over 20 years preferring to shower!? (This chap is northern I might add)

In an ideal world, after a days graft, I like a nice soak in me bath, followed by a rinse in me shower.....

    What do you think?

We took out our bath a few years back when my elderly Mum came to live at Fanackapan Towers , partly because she couldn't get into a bath any longer and with a view to when we would be in that situation further down the line.

Lovely walk in shower ! Mr F sorted it- not difficult to do and have only regretted it a couple of times when the youngest grandchild came to stay ....gave him a bath in the kitchen sink like the old days !

in the summer on a hot day i like to put the plug in the bath and then turn the shower on over me and lay back letting the bath fill up that way cooling me right down (like a waterfall effect but miniature) with a beer or two and some tunes on... proper lavish i tell thee!

so i say keep the bath with shower rob.

Anyone got a wet room? What's the difference between that and a big shower?

There is no cubicle he water just goes on floor. End up with wet floor, wet sink , wet bog. wet feet if you go in there for a piss.

We have a bath but I only use once a year and I can't be accused of being a Soapdodger.

    Shower wins for me.
  • Shower in the summer, bath in the winter.

I bet he still shits in the garden.
  • I don't think I would want to share a long journey with some of you lot !
  • Bath - no contest. I have a bath every night, can't remember the last time I had a shower (probably when I stayed in a hotel and there wasn't a bath!). The hotter the better - I'm not satisfied if I don't come out looking like a gamba (it's what the Spanish call the English after they've been in the sun the first day of their holiday)
  • MrOneLung. I do not want to know what you do with your 'he water' thank you very much.

    Dirty regionists!
When I said bath earlier I meant I go down to the local stream where I scrub myself with leaves. Curse you southerners and your internal plumbing systems :(

My great grandma had the right idea. In her Charlton council flat she kept her coal in the bath and her and great grandad always bathed in a tin 'portable' in the front room where it was always nice and warm. Her old house in Creek Road only had an outside privy .. bathrooms ?? .. they were for the gentry

Thanks MOL. Sonds crazy - will resist the missus' attempts to get me interested in one.
  • Armacast plus bath with a wide shower section was the route I took in the family bathroom.
Its very deep for a bath and is about 800mm X 800 at the shower end.Its bloody lovely.
I'd recommend you have a look at Gem bathrooms down at Charlton. They give very good deals.

Lovely tin bath in front of the log fire in the kitchen, just dreaming.

After charging around a football pitch for an hour, I'm relaxing in deep hot bath right now. There's an image for you!
  • Golden. . . . . . . . . .
  • If you prefer taking showers then I'd forget about the bath. It's much better to shower in a shower than in a bath. Also, it depends on which country you live in. Don't you live in France? Is an area that has more water shortages?

My dad told me when I was young to never wash my face with water used to wash my arse and genitals

    Makes sense to me

    Wash your face first.

    Bath.

Have to shave in a boiling hot bath. If I don't I turn into a human flapjack.
