Few pubs around, most should have quite a few Millwall in them, Marquis & 5 Bells (bit of a walk), other than that, the Amersham or Albert should be quiet.Webby said:
Thanks Sparrows ..... Will it be ok for few beers at New Cross as well?Sparrows Lane Lion said:
20/25 minutes from New Cross cutting through the park, arches & estate.Webby said:Looks like the easiest station for me is New Cross travelling from Orpington .... Will have 2 kids constantly asking are we there yet so can anyone give me an idea how long the walk to ground is or am i better off carrying on to Surrey Quays .... Also is there likely to be a few Charlton at New Cross to have a drink with?
By the time you wait for the ELL to Surrey Docks then a 15 minute walk from there, better off at New Cross.0

            Manzies for me.0

Somewhere in London Bridge, Just not sure where yet0

Aren't there also problems with surrey quays station on sat aswell?
Not a big deal, there are plenty of bus/walking options, but train would have been slightly easier.0

I'm going to the Millwall game on the Valley Away coach for the first time. I'd usually go on the train but I'm taking a 10 year old so I don't want to get into any scrapes.
I'm not really sure what to expect from the coach. Do they tend to run on time and is the atmosphere any good?0

Atmosphere usually quite moany after a draw/loss, but the service is very good.fattmatt said:I'm going to the Millwall game on the Valley Away coach for the first time. I'd usually go on the train but I'm taking a 10 year old so I don't want to get into any scrapes.

Last time I got the coach to Millwall was the 2010 game. No police escort and the driver took us down the Old Kent Road. Horrible experience.
3 youths also tried breaking onto the coach via the emergency door.0

Absolute carnage on those coaches mate.
OAP's making gestures of self pleasure out the windows, train timetables being used as paper aeroplanes, old men everywhere getting bang on the sniff.
Far too mental a mode of transport for me.0

You wouldnt get into any scrapes on the train. Especially when accompanied by a young kid.fattmatt said:I'm going to the Millwall game on the Valley Away coach for the first time. I'd usually go on the train but I'm taking a 10 year old so I don't want to get into any scrapes.

Id imagine the Charlton coach is more likely to get a few things chucked at it.0

Yes, I think stilladdickted said that some Millwall fans tried to get on board... so good luck!!0

Yeah, 10 year olds are seen as fair game down at Millwall, especially when they bowl about giving it the biggun...dear me.fattmatt said:I'm going to the Millwall game on the Valley Away coach for the first time. How many coaches are travelling the 3 miles from the Valley to the Den?

We are running coaches to Millwall Only Charlton. Only Charlton.
Not that I think there would be any agg on Saturday but surely you a more of a target sat on a Redwing Bus coming down the OKR than blending in on the tube or train.
Just seen, coaches are a tenner as well, bargain...0
-
Sparrows Lane Lion. There will be coaches running from all over Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
Ten quid from Brighton not bad.

I'd happily take my kids - no problem but you cannot deny that you do have some wrong uns - i have a Palace mate at work who witnessed first hand a bunch of your wrong uns hitting kids and all sorts when they did you 4-0 or somethinga few years back. You attract a lot of scummy people whether you like it or not, even though your reputation was probably 'earnt' the hard way years ago. Live with it Sparrows.Sparrows Lane Lion said:

Fair enough mate, from Brighton that is a decent price.
Surely people arent actually getting a coach from Charlton, are they?0

Have never seen 10 year old kids being smacked by adults at football, but if he definitely saw grown men targeting young kids then fair enough. Fortunately I've never seen it in the time I've been going so hopefully they're long gone.Bexley Dan said:

Why would anyone want to drink in Charlton pre match? I don't even drink there before our bleedin home games! London Bridge and cab for me. Gonna be loads of Charlton and all up for it. We need to restore some pride after the Palace shambles. COYR!0
-
I think we have some OAP fans who go to most/all away games and always get the supporters coach from Charlton to each game. They probably enjoy it as much as some of us enjoy cans on the trains. That being said £10 isn't on!0

I saw a palace scarfer get a good shoeing outside the station when we lost in september...he must have been all of 15 years old.Bexley Dan said:

I don't think that the 10 year old would get clouted (not even Millwall are that vile, are they?). Just don't fancy him watching me get into a scrap with someone. His mother wouldn't let him go to football again.0

Didnt one of your morons throw a seat into the FAMILY stand at Watford SLL last season or one before?....not saying all Millwall are twats but there are some utter dregs that latch onto you lot. My mate goes home and away and was saying it was embarrassing the abuse and intimidation being given out to normal members of the Watford public not even going to the game by some of the dickheads that follow your club.Sparrows Lane Lion said:

Know it happens with every club but you do seem to have a fairly large amount of jeremy kyle fodder.0

Ahhhh, Watford away last season...didn't go fortunately, my mates said the same, where has all the complete & utter numpties come from abusing innocents, giving stick , trying to act hard. It's always the local away games where these people somehow appear from nowhere and act up, normally resulting in them getting a clump from the regulars.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:/..

We have our followers who like a scrap with like minded opposition and then we have a minority who use the name to think they're tough for the day.0
