Like evryone else I'm shocked Forest have sacked O'Driscoll---if Chris has to go then lets have O'Driscoll and we might see some attractive passing football at the Valley. It would certainly make a change! Harsh on Chris though.

Why on earth should Chris have to go?
And what is in O'Driscolls record in this division that makes you think he'd get better results?

Because we have a board that do not worry about the fans feelings, will not take responsibility for lack of investment, expect more than we are currently achieving and don't like the idea of old charlton being in the club.
Other than on here nobody has suggested Powell should go. They appointed him and stuck with him after a disastrous first half season. Ridiculous thinking.
Gary Birtles views are worth a read and may hopefully sober or at least give pause for thought to those with more feverish dispositions.
"The problem they have now is a new manager is going to come in with new training methods, new background staff and a new way to play on a Saturday afternoon," he continued.
"They might bring in a load of new signings and then they'll have to gel together and that isn't always easy and takes time."

Entirely correct, though in retrospect, if after Pardew had been sacked, maybe a new, outside manager with new training methods would have kept us up. Or not...
McLeish takes over ... will the circle ever be unbroken .. what do the Forest owners think he will do for the club what he failed to do for Brum (except win the League Cup?). A dour, miserable scot whose teams play dour football. He'll probably get them promotion and bore all the spectators silly while doing so

With all due respect, I don't believe Garry Birtles views on anything are worth a read. The man is a walking cliche who is totally devoid of any ability to make a considered thoughtful comment without finding out what his mates think first. The lines you've quoted are true enough, but frankly, are as obvious an observation as could be made. My four year old daughter could've come up with that.
I think a lot can be learned from the other lot down the road. Jackett works well within a budget and has slowly since his appointment five years ago has turned Millwall into a very competitive Championship club that are firmly looking at the playoffs. Yes the knuckle draggers regularly call for his head but the Chairman has sense enough to know that without potloads of cash you need a long term plan and a manager that knows and sticks to it. Powell has shown he has nous enough to smash league one and given time and support will give Charlton every chance of being a promotion contender in this division. All our previous success was built on stability and ever since that was discarded for instant return everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong. When will some people ever learn.

Years and years of abject failure and relegations and when it picks up people call for the manager's head after 3 losses in a row. We deserve everything we get

Just goes to show football isn't an entertainment industry.
