If you have seen personally seen the conditions where NIke stuff is made then fair enough, its your own personal choice as you state above.
As you said before the more this sort of exploitation is highlighted then the more something could and may be done about it.
Cheers, always enjoy a proper discussion.
I should explain im lucky enough to have seen many parts of the world, since i discovered my talent for Photography over 10 years ago (thankfully as my school age experiance & education was so shitty), the last 2 and a half years of which, i have been travelling with an American journalist friend on a semi regular basis, which has been a great experiance but comes at the price of seeing some of the worst places in the world with the exploitation it so often brings, which is hard to ignore even if you sometimes wish you could.
Apoligies again if i came across to strong, so easy when it is an issue you care about especially on the internet.
I think once you make that sort of money you'd have to be quite level-headed to still have the same desire you had early in your career. You must lose some of the hunger knowing you've more than set yourself up for life.
Wally Uihlein of Titleist must be wetting his pants over this. Rory just doesn't appear to be able to use the Nike clubs despite them trying to copy what he was using previously. If his season continues in the same vain, surely he'll go running back to Titleist. Cue a massive lawsuit for breach of contract a possible takeover of Titleist by Nike.
I wonder what Caroline saw in the handsome Rory Mcllroy?
For the last two years golfing superstar, Rory McIlroy, and tennis golden girl, Caroline Wozniacki, have been the toast of the glittering sports’ circuit but now after distinct dip in McIlroy’s form, it has been reported that he has ended the relationship in the hope of getting back on course and retaining his former World Number One status.
Danish star, Miss Wozniacki, 23, who once described McIlroy as her "ideal boyfriend", is said to be “absolutely devastated” by the split having only just patched things up following a previous fall out. Sources close to the 24-year-old golfing prodigy said there was no way back for their pair this time however, saying he had made his mind up that his game had to come first. McIlroy, who was born in Holywood, County Down, the only son of a scratch golfer, was introduced him to golf when he was still in nappies. According to his father, Gerry, he displayed something of his prodigious talent when, at the age of two, he hit a 40-yard drive. His parents both worked several jobs to help fund the youngster’s burgeoning talent, and when he won the junior world championships in Miami at the age of nine, it became clear all their efforts were going to pay dividends. Related Articles Turning down the chance of a scholarship at a university in the United States, McIlroy became a professional at the age of 18 and wrote himself into the history books four years later when he won the US open by eight shots. His success continued the following year when he took the US PGA title by a record eight strokes helping him to eclipse all of his golfing heroes and become the number one ranked player in the world. Earlier this year he signed a £78 million sponsorship deal with the sports company Nike, making him one of the richest sportsman in the world and when he got together with Miss Wozniacki – a former World number one herself – it appeared that the superstar package was complete. The pair were regularly snapped at high profile events, and like any young couple in love these days, they used to celebrate their feelings for one another on social networking sites such as Twitter, often posting pictures of one another in amusing poses. After hitting a rocky patch earlier in the summer, the couple put paid to rumours it was over by posting a picture on Twitter, enjoying breakfast together. But for the boy from Northern Ireland, who used to practice chipping by knocking balls into his mother’s washing machine, the pressure of balancing a celebrity love affair with his world famous swing appears to have become too much. His form this year has been indifferent, struggling at the Masters in Augusta and recording only one top ten finish all season. Gary Player the nine-time major winner is certainly of the view that his relationship has had a negative bearing on his game. He said: “If you’re a young man like Rory, you can’t play with worries. You can’t have managerial problems, you can’t have women problems. You’ve got to be out there and have a free mind. “And that’s why Arnold [Palmer], Jack [Nicklaus] and I won something like 55 majors between us. Because we had three wives that were very, very special.” Confirming that the relationship was over, a source told one Irish newspaper: “Yes they are over. It's a difficult time for them both but it is for the best in the long run.” The source added: “There were a lot of tears. She still has her profile picture on her social-networking site set as the two of them in happier times, but I can tell you the pair are no longer an item," a source told this newspaper. “Rory has a lot of respect for Caroline and their time together was good, but he feels it's time to move on now. And he wishes her nothing but the best.”
truth be told, nike quality is actually better then other competitors in the market (titelist, taylor made, ping .... etc) ... but only because they do use sweatshops and 3rd world country labor to produce a high quality product which they can price cheaper in the market and still maintain their massive profit margins ...
Really? Spent an afternoon recently trying out several ranges of golf clubs, the Nikes straight away felt the worst of the bunch. The advisor even said that the Nike clubs aren't great, don't give good feedback and people struggle with them.
Hmm. I can sort of understand it as he's grown up putting everything into being one of the best players ever, and being in a high maintenance/long-distance relationship probably wouldn't help. However, find a compromise and reduce trips to see her play? There's probably more to it and we'll only hear 'information' from their media teams. I wonder how the local lass he grew up with and dumped after meeting Caroline is feeling.
As for Nike golf clubs, they probably do lag in individual areas behind other companies (Cleveland wedges, Titleist irons, etc) but enough players have won big tournaments with them.
haven't found 1 Nike club I have liked or got on with, However to me that's because we get the mass produced cheapo versions (that other big brands do better) and the pros get the hand made specialised gear, (however Rory seems to be playing with the Clubs you can buy in Sports Direct)
I don't know how Calloway and Titleist, Ping manage to mass produce more quality tools but they do , Nike a huge brand a huge company to diverse to focus in one area constantly deliver shite clubs

Have to say I love my Nike blades. Moving from Callaway Big Berthas was a revelation, has definitely improved my game. Now this could just be the change from cavity back to blade, swapping the big forgiving sweet spot for better feel and control, but still I really rate the Nikes I have.
Nike golf balls are made by Bridgestone. Nike golf clubs are made partly in the US (heads) the shafts are made in china.
Good for them, im still not happy thinking of Charlton shirts potentially coming out of one of the two places i have seen.
I'll probably get shouted down for this, but what would happen without those sweatshops? People would starve, I, personally don't agree with judging what happens in 3rd world / developing countries by English standard, of course it's exploitation, but people would be a lot worse off without it.
Has just shot a 9 over 80 in the "Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation" - the worst round so far by any player. This follows him missing the cut at the BMW.
Off his game, pressure of it being "his" tournament or something more personal affecting him?

You shouldn't forget the horse racing. And the football if that's going on too. But then that's what I do to make ends meet. Tt is difficult at times to follow them all at the same time and post but a duel screen computer, three TVs and Sky Go on an Ipad means I usually manage ;-)
Sometimes though I do have to leave the house if only to take Seb to a cricket match - like tomorrow when he plays for Kent in the return fixture against Sussex.

Still not won a grand slam I think.
