His one touch link up play was excellent. Reminded me a bit of Eric Cantona the way he plays for them.

The original french monster. Roland you are a prick, you should have given that guy the extra dough, he is so bloody good and he loves this club. You sign pp, reza, Tucudean for whatever amounts but wouldn't give the fantastic french man who would put his body on the line for this club a few extra quid. Mug

Sir, I agree with every word you say.

He deserves to be a premier league player after everything he's gone through as a person and for the class act he is on the pitch. Chuffed for him.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment - if Yann doesn't make the step up to the Prem, would it be a surprise if he turns up at Huddersfield?
100% No chance Uddersfield can afford him or his wages

Hope RD doesn't make the same mistake again. The money spent on Tucudean, Reza and Parzyszek could have been spent on Yann.

Not sure Yann would enjoy the hoof it high stuff anymore - Howe was playing him in the link role he should have played more often for us.

Yann was simply worth more to Bournemouth than he was to us - they knew they could push on this season whilst we were clearly in a rebuilding phase. As we've also just seen, he is used in a different role there whilst we used to just pump long balls in his general direction.

We freed up probably £750k in wages, earned a fee and created the room for the likes of JBG and Igor to come in, both of whom will have resale value.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to acknowledge he's a great guy/player and it was ok to let him go.

Great to see him come toward the East Stand after the game while his team mates were celebrating and touch his chest/heart several times and punch the air towards the CAFC fans to show his love of Charlton.

I think he could have done a lot more damage today but was not wanting to hurt us too much!

Show his true love for Charlton you serious if he loved the club he would have accepted the two year deal and stayed instead he chased the money ........ Like Parker really yet look at the reception he gets yet they both left for more money

Hard to blame him - his career only started in earnest when he was 28.

Footballers have a short career. Yann's, through no fault of his own, has been even shorter. It's a miracle he's even carved out a career. Nothing but respect for the guy.

I imagine Bournemouth's wages were better as to make it worth moving and naturally, you do what's best for your family.

Fair play to him. As long as he's playing a part in Bournemouth's prem survival then i'll be rooting for them in the prem.

Love that he acknowledged his old supporters like that.
As said millions of times, one of the weirdest transfers in 30 years of supporting Charlton. A cult hero and a 15 goal target man. Baffling.
    Good luck Yann.

Yann is a class player and a class bloke. He showed both qualities in abundance today. We got Yann man love for sure, but I think we also have a special place in his gallic heart.

Ok I get all that but then why do we boo Parker no diff in the two
Because Yann wanted too stay(14k a week would have been great value)
    Parker wanted to go.

You can't get more different than that.

    The voice of reason.

Yann was a class human being today, treated the Charlton and Bournemouth fans with equal respect. its a hard line to follow as Powell found it when he came down and got slagged of by the Udders fans.

I'm sorry, I'm s fully grown man and I need to get "over it".

But today it hurt me, watching him play so well for them and not in a cafc shirt, he LOVES this club and is a great guy I'm so happy for him ... and the word legend is thrown to easily but he is one.

When he went off and we clapped it bring a tear to my eye ... It's like watching the girl that got away have full blown intercourse with her new guy on his new merc

I hope Bournemouth go up! Would be nice to see how Yann, Francis and Harry Arter get on in the premier league!

Only Arter has a chance of hacking it.
Wrong. Kermo is easily good enough. Look at Ulloa this season.

Agree with this guy. I'm not normally a particularly sentimental bloke and accept that players coming and going is part of football.

But Christ, it was such a strange feeling watching Yann strut around controlling his area of the field whilst wearing another team's shirt.

And I keep thinking what might have been had Watt and Kermo been playing in the same team this season. Academic, but still.

Hope Yann gets some game time in the Prem because as others have pointed out, he's had to overcome an awful lot to get where he is today. It hurt when he left, particularly as we all had to concede at that stage that he probably is/was too good for us. I think he'll show that next season; he won't look out of place.

Never in my lifetime has a player become such a cult figure in such a short space of time, and I don't see his impact being emulated for a very long time. Top player, top bloke.

Even though Roland has made many bewildering decisions, there has always been a glimpse of logic behind them.

Selling Yann, however, defied all logic (especially when considering the number of 30+ year old players we have signed since).

If this true it is a little depressing for me. Effectively what it is saying is we will just bring through young players and flog them to make money without any ambition for promotion.

Loves the club could not be bothered to stay and help us stay up that's how much he loves it .........
You're right. I imagine Yann claps off all four sides of the ground every time he plays away. No doubt he bangs his heart as he leaves the field at Leeds away, and suchlike. Even when his team have been promoted and won the league, he was still seen acknowledging and conversing with Charlton fans. The actions of a man who doesn't like the club, of course..
  • Pleased for him today - class player.

You could say the money freed up on his wages was wasted on Parzyszek (rumoured fee of £700k or so wasn't it?), Reza and later Tucudean. In January we then signed Lepoint. All poor signings that would have been better spent giving one of our best players a new contract.
