I sit in the NU but the fans in the East next to where it happened didnt seem too upset at the ref card so that may be an indicator.
Yeah it was in front of my block (C block) and usually I'm the only that stands up there at all so not really a good indicator, however most people in the center blocks in the east were on there feet. Was never a red IMO, Halford made a huge meal of it and then the rest of the Forest team got unnecessarily involved.
His play acting with Kermit the Clown was pathetic of course but they all do it. If the situation was reversed there'd be nothing on this board denouncing the charlton player. As for whether Halford's any good it's still hard to tell he had nothing to do yesterday beyond winding up KtC. Interesting he's playing as a centre half Pardoo-doo played him right back and right mf where he was ok if not spectacular.

That's the way things are in football, if Halford had kicked Yann, I'm sure he too would have 'made the most of it'. Was it Yann involved when James Beattie was sent off last year?
Halford is a charmless no class nerk. He was pretty poor at right back with poor distribution at right back at Charlton. Just lumped the ball upfield and gave away the ball. Not particularly liked and I remember an interview with him after he went to Sheffield Utd where he said that he rubbed two fingers together to indicate that he had more money than us lot.
Regarding yesterday, No excuse to get a player sent off to benefit your team. It ain't classy or the right thing to do just because other footballers do it. Just like diving and general cheating. I will remember Halford and what he did for whenever we play them and he is in the team.
Compare him to Andy Reid who was quality and a decent person and player. Thats why he got warm applause from all sides of the ground.
Forest were better but they still scored both their goals following a foul on Wagstaff for the first and an elbow on Dervite for the second.
For all the superiority they had to provoke KMG, follow up with a big over reaction from their side and helped to get him sent off, and commit fouls which led to their goals. No class. I remember the amount of stick some Forest fans gave Charlton when we got relegated. Not my favourite team. I hope we get to avenge ourselves next year in the championship. What they have at the moment is a new manager bounce. That does not last for ever.
A lot of the stick Halford gets was/is because he's, well, Halford. A not particularly good player who reminds us of times we'd all rather not be reminded of, and has done nothing to endear himself to us since. As said, his reaction could have been more melodramatic, and it was the far side lino's intervention that (correctly) resulted in the red card. You can point to worse challenges that only got yellows, but that simply proves they SHOULD have gone, not that Yann shouldn't. Hopefully he'll come back and reach new heights in his efforts to make amends.

Shouldn't Halford have been sent off at their place this season? Always despised Halford. We lost our brilliantly skilled playmaker and captain and had him replaced with that freakish ogre of a thing. I was always genuinely shocked he could take more than three steps without collapsing into a puddle of splintery bones and failed science. The fact he got Yann sent off just adds to the horror
Yann kicked him 'softly' and Halford -of course- overreacted & so did his teammates. I suspect that any of our players would have done the same. A yellow card would have been more appropriate but if you kick an opponent off the ball no matter how softly, a red card is always likely. Halford is a well travelled, talented player. I suspect he is hard to handle but has settled down at last

I would honestly rather have seen a mass brawl than Yann getting surrounded and left on his own like that
Just watched it back on telly a couple of times. It must just be me but I can't see what all the fuss is about re Halfords reaction.
I agree. Yann kicked him, he fronted Yann. No blows struck, no pushing, just a face to face. He did nothing wrong IMO and the linesman was spot on with the red card. The reactions of some on here, even after watching the incident on telly, are utterly bemusing.

I agree. I only saw the 'thing' on TV but was suprised that only Jackson and (I think) Wagstaff seemed to come to aid Kermorgant. Very surprising
I'm with Oohaah & others. You couldn't see what Yan had done from the Upper North, but the ref couldn't get over there quick enough. There was no punch thrown, so I though he must have kicked him. Most of us moan when the linos see things and say nothing, so the linesman who saw the kick was 100% right to say so. That's one of the reason he's there. I saw the TV replay & Yann kicked him in the leg, after the ball had gone. It was a definite red & the officials were correct. I can't see that Halford did anything wrong. The only person at fault here is Yann. 3 game ban is a big problem for us.
Correct covered end Yann plays the game on the edge and sometimes that will spill over can't put too much blame on Halford other than he made a right meal of it. That said he looked a far better player than when he was at The Valley I hate to say it but I was impressed with the way he controled the centre defence.
Red card was right in the contexts of the laws but it was a light kick and no one would go down like that if they were kicked like that. If Halford stays on his feet then his team mates don't react and nor do the officials.
He was absolute dogshit for us. His contribution to the most miserable awayday in history (the 4-2 battering at Blackpool) was remarkable. I think he'll always be the kind of player that is basically OK, but that will give away a few insane goals.
Nobody is mentioning the fact that our totally negative line up and defensive priority gave Yann no choice but to take a battering. Somebody please tell me that we are not going to be faced with the same thing this Saturday. I have not ever in 58 years of watching Charlton seen us field a team so incredibly negative, with so little thought of attacking apart from Hamer's long punts up the middle.

Well Yann most definitely will NOT be taking a battering this Saturday. As for formation, no idea.

Not mine but saw it on the Charlton facebook group and it just summed up my feelings for him perfectly.

Looking forward to playing at #thevalley again today. Love this ground and have some good memories here!
