Hamers been dropped for the last 4/5 games for Button, who, as I remember was described as a boring/pointless signing in the summer.
Question is, is this just a tempory adjustment by Powell, or is Button simply a better keeper and more worthy of the starting place. Suppose we have not seem enough of him in a way, and I haven't been overly impressed, but baring today's hopeful positive outcome, the whole tam have been on bad form.

it's competition, keeping one and another on their toes. Button is not necessarily a better keeper but deserves his chance. Hamer can fight for his place or strop. I hope he chooses the first one0

Both decent keepers. I reckon Button is stronger in the air but Hamer is probably the strongest shot stopper. Good to have the competition.0

You all forget how good Hamer has been this season. Button has to take blame for the second goal at Peterborough. Will support both nonetheless0

Yes it's good competition, which like someone said, hope Hamer embraces the challenge.
Button wouldn't have dented his chances today with a clean sheet.0 -

Hamer has been great this season, but clearly has been shaky lately. As long as Button's performing he should keep the shirt... and I hope it wont take just one bad mistake to have everyone calling for a change again. Whoever's in goal for us, they will always make the odd mistake, because we're a Championship side, and Buffon aint signing any time soon.0

As having Dean Kiely proved, having an excellent goalkeeper can add lots of points to a teams total come the end of the season.
Playing Button for a few games gives Powell the chance to properly evaluate what he's got at his disposal. Personally I think neither hamer or button will be our number 1 next season.0 -

Hamer can only play on decent pitches and that was from the horses mouth.0

I'm glad he has done ok so far especially as I wanted him in 2-3 games before Powell made the change.
Not saying button is some sort of messiah but seems a fairly steady eddy so far and doesn't flap around in the wind like Hamer
Just hope the competition drives them both on but Hamer has a basic problem of not being commanding in the area in my opinion which is a pity as his shot stopping and distribution is pretty good.0 -

Based entirely on today's game (the only time I've seen Button play) I'd say Button looks more confident dealing with crosses and Hamer is a more assured and controlled shot stopper. Both have good kicks on them but Hamer is more accurate. Early days for making a final judgement on Button, but probably not a great deal between them right now.0

Which to be honest is how I would like it to be. Genuine competition would hopefully get both raising their games. That said I thought and still think Hamer was a good keeper in bad form, never an outright bad goalie at all. The change was probably justified and it seems to have paid off, I just hope neither of them pulls a Randolph and walks off because they aren't GUARANTEED first choice. same as Exiled this was the first time I saw Button.
Bit flappy at first bit grew on confidence and made some good saves. Thought his kicking was too up and under. There was a lovely moment late on when he "allowed" Lee to trip him up which resulted in a yellow card for Lee.
It looks like we have two competent Championship goalkeepers, it will be interesting to watch them progress next season.0 -
Must be remembered that with this only being Button's 3rd game,he may be a little rusty when it comes to real match scenarios. His confidence can only grow from this point (bar any howlers) and this should lead to him becoming a really safe pair of hands for us.0

Give the guy a chance , he's only played 3 league games for us , a couple of howlers against Millwall , and people will be screaming to bring Hamer back.0

I must admit, I have a gut feeling that Hamer is the way to go long term. I think he can be a top top keeper. Less convinced Button has the same potential but he could prove me wrong. Gut feelings are not always the most scientific. Right Hamer got dropped though and down to Button to keep the gloves.
I thought he should have done better with Posh's second but a couple of great saves yesterday and one fumble. Cut out the fumbles and I could be made to eat my words.0
