  • the point you have him is the dealer to private sale, if you have the ad then you sorted
  • yes and autotrader will validate it
  • No brainier he is fecked

There was a guy on auto trader selling a motor without declaring a cat d write off he was threatens with court action by auto trader under some misappropriation thing If he didnt amend his ad spose the same sort of thing would apply

He changed his ad for a week then
The sad point is the guy has re worded his ad and posted the same car up without declaring it again

They seem quite easy to deceive

Did your father in law do the hpi check as most come with real good checks including mot info and other mechanical info that has been diagnosed if you need to you can buy a gold or platinum hpi check now and run it through will cost you thirty sheets and it may show the car was sold with the knowledge of this fault in the service history
  • ...Found something in the paperwork saying it failed an mot some time back due to smoking/turbo failure... Looks to be issues with the mileage too. Fil is a bit 'daft' thankfully the genes didnt pass on - well not entirely anyway
  • mate do a hpi there are some real gems out there that can trace all sorts of history on the car and cost just 30 quid , any major faults that are highlighted will be an indication as to if he sold your fil a pup and never disclosed it, as a trader/dealer he has to pass that info on at point of sale thats why he has said it was a private sale there will be something lurking in the cars history that will make it an easier case for you
