Other sports you follow?

Sport is a bit of a drug for me, I follow several sports (some more then others) and Im always open to learning about new ones. Ive been known to watch several sports in one day, and have marathons focused on one. I managed to watch 10 hours of NFL in a day last season.

Never understood the "I love my sport, hate all the others" attitude that I encounter with many football fans. In saying that I think the British are fairly unique in being into several sports, probably because of the richness of our sporting history.

Sports that I consider myself to be a bonafide fan of in a rough order of enthusiasm:

1. Football (no sh*t!)
2. Rugby Union (including 7s)
3. NFL
4. Rugby League
5. Basketball
6. Baseball (only recently got into it, still learning the finer points!)

Tennis is ok, Ill watch Wimbledon when its on, cant get into racing though, and golf and cricket have never appealed to me. Maybe Ill get round to them someday!

  • The only other sport I "follow" is pro cycling. All the other sport I watch is on a take it or leave it basis.
  • NFL, Mens Netball and Baseball? Oh dear!

    Cricket
    Football
    Golf
    Horse Racing
    Tennis
    Boxing (retro)
  • Cricket, and I like the tennis. Well, the men's tennis and Sharapova's matches.

  • I think people tend to only follow England in other sports outside of football. (With possibly Rugby as an exception)

    For me:
    1. Football
    2. Boxing
    3. F1
    4. NFL
    5. MMA (usually only UFC on tv though)

The rest i'll usually watch if England or an English player is playing in a major tournament or series (like the masters or olympics). But stuff like Tennis and Cricket I usually am more inclined to just read the result so I don't have to sit through the games.
  • What's MMA?

Very true in most cases but I do actually have teams I support in each sport, most of the time because I accidently just started liking one team more then the others.

London Irish are my Rugby Union
    London Broncos in RL
    New York Jets in NFL
    Brookyln Nets in Basketball
Baseball havent stumbled on one yet!

As well as Charlton Ive been known to pop down to see Dulwich Hamlet on occasion, in other leagues I follow Toronto FC in MLS and Malaga CF in La Liga.

  • Rugby League (NRL)
    Aussie Rules (AFL)
Starting to get more and more into test cricket.
  • Excuse my ignorance but what does retro boxing mean?
  • Watching old fights I'd presume?
  • Hitting old people?
  • Sorry.
Football & Tennis. Bit of cricket but not so's you'd notice.

  • Is Dogging a sport or pastime?
  • Retro or modern?
  • Tennis and UFC
  • I love nearly every sport going!
Football, Rugby Union, Tennis, Cricket, NFL, Snooker, Darts, F1, Pro cycling, boxing.
Only really dislike things like golf (unless it's the Ryder cup) and rugby league
  • Football
    Darts
Horse Racing (for betting reasons only)
  • Football is 95% of my interest but I've always been a fan of F1, even though I have no understanding of cars whatsoever.

Recently started taking a slight interest in some American sports as well. I'm over there every couple of months on business and have been taken to see Major League Baseball (Red Sox, though I still have no interest) but am quite keen on the NBA and keep an eye on NHL.

Never thought I'd be saying that a year ago!
  • Rugby and Cricket hugely, and then tennis, horse racing, golf, freestyle skiing, NFL, F1, cycling
  • Don't laugh, but I've been to quite a few Polo matches. Great day out. Also great value for money if you happen to live near a club.
For example for non-playing membership The Guards Polo Club has a £150 joining fee and thereafter a £335 annual subscription. (Best not to ask about fees for playing though.)
For that you get at least one match every day (apart from most mondays) from mid-April through to mid-September - over 400 fixtures! (Extra for the few prestige matches but that's still little more than about a £1 a game though). Use of the club bar and restaurant, guest passes, car parking facilities, and more posh totty than you can shake a stick at. (But you do have to remember that Ma'am rhymes with Spam.)
  • I don't follow any other sports other than Charlton, even football. I used to go to loads of non-league, but got bored with it after a while.
I do like snooker, cycling, 10 pin bowling, cricket and athletics, but only watch when a big competition catches my interest.
  • Darts, Moto GP, Cricket and Golf for me.
