Would gain a lot of respect for any millwall who do. Having a party for someone's death is disgusting and incredibly unbritish, though these people probably don't care about what's British as they would rather we implemented sharia law. Scum should be rounded up and sent to a country where they know the real meaning of oppression

Oppression? Try telling that to the miners and others treated so disgustingl by her and her policies!
Whether you despised Thatcher or not to celebrate her death is pathetic.

There should have been street parties when Thatcher left government.
Agreed. If people want to protest against her getting a £10m funeral though that's different.

No idea. Its odd isnt it police quoting facebook figures for the demos. Surely if you were a proper anarchist you wouldnt be putting Yes I am attending.

I believe that the best anarchists still use RSVP cards.

Millwall vigilante justice, just like that half hour in the London riots. Meh, might be fun to see the knuckle draggers bash the liberals heads in and then get their own arses kicked the coppers.

yes because closing non profitable mines is comparable to the living conditions of north korea, china and ex soviet states.

Nothing wrong with a good protest! But this thing, it's no more logical than the arguments the scumbags made for sacking and looting last summer. I'm 33 and I don't feel qualified to comment on the Thatcher years (although I do get the knock-on effect). I was simply too young to understand. I suspect the majority of revellers will not be any older than me.
  • And what issue have you got with that?

    Civil liberties...

If I chose to go a football match that's my business and nothing to do with the State's.

  • I'd be surprised if 30 Millwall arrived for a ruck let alone 30,000
  • Oh dear, can we keep this discussion a bit on topic please before it gets killed by the mods :-)

She saved loads more than that on Miners' salaries - pays for itself.

Just like Jimmy Saville - they both screwed minors...

And if Thatcher had had her way we'd all be having to take ID cards to football matches...

If labour had their way we'd have to carry ID cards to go anywhere.
  • If labour had their way we'd have to carry ID cards to go anywhere.

Also a mistake and something I opposed.

But Thatcher wanted to limit ID cards to football fans. She was no friend to football...

I know what you mean, but a more accurate description would be she was no friend to hooligans.

Unfortunately, we had reached the point where there were deaths at football & the football authorities had done little to tackle the issues in more than 10 years.

It's wasn't like today, with stewards & all seater stadiums, as we all know.

I disagreed with the football id cards & it may have killed the game, but the clubs weren't addressing the issues.
  • So celebrating someones death is sick and unBritish?

    What about:

    Hitler
    Mussolini
    Saddam Hussein
    Gaddaffi
    Osama Bin Laden
    and Guido Fawkes!

We've been very respectful over their deaths.

What about the front page of The Sun when the Belgrano was sunk!
  • The lions tail has been pulled.
  • Can't see it happening. Anyone serious wouldn't be posting crap about it online.

Only semi-related, but I suspect there'll be a few idiots singing 'There's only one Maggie Thatcher' in Barnsley tomorrow.

    Shock horror!

BFR and I agree about something!

ID cards are not British except in times of war.

Mrs Thatcher did many good things but also some not so good and this absurd suggestion was one of the latter.

And if they do they'll be coming back in a coffin. Serious. Anyone who comes out with this sort of stuff tomorrow at Barnsley is going to get the hiding of his life from the locals.

I'd put money on a few dickheads doing it from the safety and anonymity of the away end, the kind of people who think Jimmy Saville chants are funny and witty.

Let's be honest, in recent history I am not aware of any UK street parties celebrating the deaths of Saddam Hussein, Gadaffi or Bin Laden. Certainly not in Trafalgar Sq.

If they do, Red Panda, they are putting ALL Charlton supporters at real risk. No-one should underestimate the sheer hatred of Thatcher in that part of the world and the locals really won't take any shit from a few dickheads coming out with this sort of stuff. If they do start spouting off, it will be a very uncomfortable trip back to the coach/station/car for all Charlton supporters.

Was about to say the same. People used to queue up to dance on Cromwell's grave and head's used to be put on a spike after executions with the a sign saying "Behold the head of a traitor!"

Americans celebrated Osama, didn't see anyone here do it. Didn't Hitlers death come 2 days before the german surrender,so perhaps people were celebrating the end of the war rather than his death? But another good comparison of Thatcher to leaders who killed millions through genocide,or who killed thousands of innocent people through terrorism. Well done

  • These people also died at the height of their notoriety, not 30 years later.

If they survive their richly deserved kicking, they will no doubt be awarded CL badges, as it is the official party line on the only website in the world which doesn't allow anyone to point out that the woman divided the nation and hated football fans .

(Yeah, I know, ''give it a rest'', ''show some respect'', ''think of Carol and Mark'' blah blah blah sanctimonious crap blah blah blah).

  • I think Henry called it right when he nicknamed you insufferable addick.

It seemed as though her government viewed fans and hooligans as one and the same
