t I suspect there'll be a few idiots singing 'There's only one Maggie Thatcher' in Barnsley tomorrow.

If they survive their richly deserved kicking, they will no doubt be awarded CL badges, as it is the official party line on the only website in the world which doesn't allow anyone to point out that the woman divided the nation and hated football fans .

(Yeah, I know, ''give it a rest'', ''show some respect'', ''think of Carol and Mark'' blah blah blah sanctimonious crap blah blah blah).

  • If labour had their way we'd have to carry ID cards to go anywhere.

Also a mistake and something I opposed.

But Thatcher wanted to limit ID cards to football fans. She was no friend to football...

I know what you mean, but a more accurate description would be she was no friend to hooligans.

Unfortunately, we had reached the point where there were deaths at football & the football authorities had done little to tackle the issues in more than 10 years.

It's wasn't like today, with stewards & all seater stadiums, as we all know.

I disagreed with the football id cards & it may have killed the game, but the clubs weren't addressing the issues.
It seemed as though her government viewed fans and hooligans as one and the same
Probably did. In those days we had @4000 at The Valley & I think there was fighting or "chasing" at nearly all the games.
Although we did have Chelsea setting light to the ground in a 30,000 crowd, a death at Millwall V W Ham, Luton v Millwall riot. Chelsea wanting to put in electrified fences and on and on.

I didn't agree with ID cards, but someone had to do something.
  • Been football lads present at plenty of events in society in recent times, Charlton & Millwall in Eltham during the riots, Traf Square during the cartoon demonstrations in 2005/2006,

Wouldn't be surprised at all if people try and get together to see what occurs. As people have said earlier will be a complete whitewash due to the boys in blue.
