Hardly ever went into the Union though, or whatever its old name was, Fox and Hounds?1 -
Another micro pub shortly to open called the Long Bar, just along from the Yacht in Long Lane, Bexleyheath.0

The old dry cleaners at Well Hall being turned into The Berry and Barrel, a micro pub due to open in September.https://www.commonriotersbeer.co.uk/post/new-brewpub
Also plans for a micro brewery just down the road at the old Rochester Way club development.0 -
There seems to be micro pubs popping up all over the place , not sure on my feelings of them or their place in the industry but people must be liking them or they wouldn’t be everywhere.
i used to drink in the village that has what’s regarded as the 1st micro pub & that had a loverly little pub in it already that didn’t serve food & back then we just called them pubs , some big pubs some small pubs but they were just pubs.0 -
Love a micro pub, wouldn't go in one now though. How can you socially distance in a place that's not big enough to swing a cat?0

I was very sad to stumble across this picture on the internet. It's of my mum and dad's old pub in St Albans:

Whereabouts in St Albans is that, Stig? Unusual for a pub to close there, it's got the highest number of pubs per person in the country I think.Stig said:I was very sad to stumble across this picture on the internet. It's of my mum and dad's old pub in St Albans:

It's on a residential estate. To be fair, probably not the best situation.

Had a few nights in there in the early 70sAFKABartram said:Looks like the old Valley pub0 -
That is sad, liked that place.Vincenzo said:Sad news that the Greenwich Union has closed for good.
Food got crap the last few years and people around there are fussy now, rightly so if your paying silly prices.
Wonder if it will become residential or a new pub.0 -
If Roland owned it, make it £33mguinnessaddick said:0 -
terrible picture (apologies) very long shot but does anyone know if this pub/building is still standing, think the picture is sixties and the pub was my Grandfathers, or even if there is a record of old pubs.

If closed it should be recorded on this sitejonseventyfive said:

but it isn't. However, any web search doesn't throw up an existing Prince Regent in SE1....0 -
Thanks very much, I'll be looking into it 👍0

This search is turning up blank so far. Are you able to see on the photo what brewery it was (Courage, Ind Coope, Watneys, Whitbread, Trumans etc?0
-
We are getting their - narrowed it down to Kennington...

Barclay Perkins is the only readable name, maybe an independent?0

The Prince Regent was situated at 130 Ethelred Street (this street ran between the eastern end of Black Prince Road and Lambeth Walk). Closed c.1964, this pub has now been demolished. Ethelred Street no longer exists.0
-
Sorry I'm on my way out now but I'll look in later.0

This is a picture of Ethelred Street in 1960, looking from Black Prince Road. The Prince Regent is in the centre of the picture (immediately behind the car that has its bonnet up)

The view from the same spot today (using LCC Bomb maps to establish the point from where the photograph was taken - I really need to get out more)

That's fantastic though, and thanks very much for showing interest, I'd have happily bought a round had it still been there.0
-
No worries, an enjoyable hour or so - just sorry its not still there. If you are interested in what Ethelred Street looked like just before it was all demolished in the 70's, the below link has some good pictures.jonseventyfive said:That's fantastic though, and thanks very much for showing interest, I'd have happily bought a round had it still been there.
