    Trevor Bailey.
Or if you're looking for a more international XI, Bill Lawry, who was once described by an Aussie journalist as "A corpse wearing pads."

    Good idea Tom:
    A England XI v R.O.W XI.

(Don't think Chris Gayle would get in this team........)

Chris Tavare was actually a very good one day player - he could hit straight/into the V, that's always a good scoring area in ODI cricket.

You need a keeper - either Jack Russell or Godfrey Evans who once took 97 minutes to get off the mark in a Test.

Godfrey Evans also scored one of the quickest hundreds in test cricket, so can't be relied on. I'd actually go for Bob Taylor for slowness.

Another tailender would have to be Phil Tufnell, especially if facing the quickies - usually backing away to square leg!

ROW XI - Bruce Edgar of NZ was pretty boring, as is Chanderpaul now. Lance Gibbs was a pretty inept batsman but a decent enough bowler.

    Mike Brearley as Captain?

Always remember in the World Cup Final one year I thought it was a tactic from the West Indies to keep Boycott and him in because they put up the scoring rate.

The ultimate number 11 batsman was probably Kent's Kevin Jarvis, but he was a good bowler.

Think Greigs bowling was sometimes wayward, but seem to remember he could score quickly.
