    Today's England XI ?

Not exactly the most thrilling day of cricket is it.

Interestingly Trott has by far the best strike rate of any of the English batsmen today. He'll get dropped from our non playing T20 team at this rate!

Agree about Emburey - he would have been IN my 20/20 team.
My recommendation for ROW would be 'the Wall' Dravid - even though he does play in IPL.
another one would be Sunil Gavaskar after this innings...http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?t=93501
How can anyone bat all innings in a 60 over ODI for just 36 runs.

In that match England scored over 300 runs in their 60 overs - almost unheard of then, so Gavaskar decided that as there was no way India could win that he'd settle for batting practice.

Actually he did it as a protest against what he saw as England ruining the game by scoring too many. He had not support from the rest of his team and was punished by the Indian authorities.
What must be rememberd is that was not only the first ever cricket WC but international ODI's were also very new and not everyone had got the hang of how to play them.
Gavaskar was one of the best of his generation and to dismiss him as a 20/20 mug is just ignorant.

You're right Riv, Gavaskar was a class bat, i was just using that as a classic example. In the same way that i cant believe that anybody would think that Emburey would be a crap 20/20 player.
In those days they would bowl 120 overs in a day! whereas in a Test match today you will only get 90 , and 100 in an ODI.

Wonder how your team would do against my fantasy 11

    Gordon Greenidge
    David Warner
    Viv Richards
    Chris Gayle
    Gary Sobers
    Brendon McCullum (wk)
    Richard Hadlee
    Imran Khan
    Kapil Dev
    Shane Pollock
    Shane Warne

Good side. You missed out one player though - Gary Pratt.
