You dont have to patronise the company that adorns your club shirt. In recent years I didnt purcyears hase any air conditioning units, the year before that I didnt purchase any financial products or buy any sportswear products.
From the perspective of direct purchasing I suspect the shirt sponsorship is about the worst form of advertising going. I've never sought out a product because it's been on a Charlton shirt, but theres a few that I've avoided because I didn't like the shirt it was on.
Luckily it's not about direct sales though, but marketing reach.
