England v NZ 2nd One Day International

NZ won toss & chose to bat :-

132-2 25 overs.

Swann just bowled Williamson 55

Woakes & Dernbach are hopeless again. Anderson, Swann & Bresnan bowling well. It's a repeat of the 1st match, but on a cracking wicket, of 270-300 expected.

  • going to need a special innings from root here
  • 1-1 from the last 2 overs.
  • thats trott for you
  • Trott has a decent scoring record in ODIs - ca 75 runs/100 balls, but he's never been a fast run scorer.

  • The sooner Trott is out of ODI's the better. Sorry but game changed in last year and cannot have him clogging up the powerplays.
  • BREAKING NEWS: Trott hits a 6!
  • 118-2 off 21 overs
  • I'll stop updating. Seems we always lose a wicket the over after

122-3. Root gone for 28 in the deep. Another start. :-)
  • Just read in the Times we are considered favourites for the Champions trophy - is that just blind/bias support because on the bias of these 2 games we aren't going to....

  • Did think that was likely - home advantage and all that but doesn't really work for us like it does in the tests.

with this bowling attack and fragile batting line up we'd struggle to win the women's champions trophy. After the first choice (bowlers especially) the cupboard is pretty bare.

I agree, but I think we've got more chance of winning, than England football team winning the World Cup in my lifetime :-)

2 sides to the argument though. The other side is that he's a solid, reliable player and if he can stay in and get you 60/70 runs at a SR of 80 and a big hitter like Root, Morgan or (when fit) KP can stay with him at a SR of 100/110 then we'll do ok. England aren't going to bomb out a guy who averages 50.

  • Trott has more than done his job here today, he's been let down by the other 10.

this imo although he does need to speed up at the end or get out sometimes. Trott doesn't score quickly but lays a platform. Dropping him would be stupid
  • Trott 103 off 102 balls
