  • Went to ebbsfleet today. 0-0. Absolutely woeful. Wish I'd stayed at home and watched the rugby!!

Must have been bad to want to watch Union instead

  • Went to Erith & Belvedere 1-1 Greenwich Borough. A very entertaining, unflagging high-tempo game.

But an unusual and sombre prelude. A minute's Remembrance Day silence impeccably observed, even by a very excited group of kids, followed by a minute's applause for E&B director and supporter extraordinaire Martin Tarrant, inexplicably gone at 58. He passed away suddenly and wholly unexpectedly during Wednesday evening. Quite simply, a more devoted fan and true football enthusiast would be impossible to find. Maybe some of you will recall his Deres contributions on RTM.

    RIP Martin

Yes RIP, never met him but heard of everything he did for the club.

Phoenix won 6-1 and are now second.

Dartford never really got going in the 1st half and Bromley almost went 2-0 up but it wasn't to be.

2nd half Dartford came out and upped their game and scored quickly, it really was end to end and played on a heavy pitch which will leave both sets of players tired.

Dartford are playing Welling on Tuesday.

Ref had a good game and although tackles were flying in an honest game of Football.

    This.

I went along to the Fortress too-the swirling conditions played a big part and on the balance of each half, a draw might have been fairer.

Great game though-you don't expect to see flares at Bromley! Does anyone know what the big discussions between officials were about after Bromley's first equaliser?

Although I wanted Darford to win yesterday, I would prefer a Welling victory in El Kentico on Tuesday and reckon those conditions yesterday plus an inevitable night on the piss could be very helpful for the Wings....
  • Martin Tarrant was my friend for many years and a great guy. RIP Martin.

Dartford player picked it up and chucked it back into the crowd. Of course it came straight back and Ademola lobbed it out of the ground to safety.

Dartford player very lucky to escape punishment on that one.

  • Ah! I thought that might have been the case. The book would have been thrown at him if it had been a higher profile game......

Bet Bromley are hoping they escape punishment as well. How was a flare allowed inside the ground. If the FA ask just tell them you know Millwall, and nothing will happen
  • I was down the other end and to me it looked like someone lobbed a smoke bomb on the pitch and a Dartford player chucked it out of the ground. Later a flare was let off behind the goal on the terrace but the stewards seemed to deal with that pretty quickly.

  • First rate result for Maidstone United at Stevenage today. Let's hope Dartford and Maidstone get kind draws.
  • Went to Hendon v Grays. Hendon were 3-0 up but did a Charlton and let Grays have almost 100% of the ball 2nd half. Two late Grays goals and a last second chance nearly completed a deserved come-back.

Grays in particular played a very expansive style with the goalie rolling out to centre-backs almost every time.

Good game but only 164 there (at Harrow Borough) to see it.
  • Dartford currently 2-0 up against Welling in the basement mini-league fixture. So far, saturday does'nt seem to have done the Darts too much harm.
Referring back to the flare at Bromley - Dartford, it's difficult to see what more Bromley could do. No one I know was expecting a crowd that big, and teams of the size of Bromley, Dartford and Welling are'nt in a position to search everyone who goes in. Sadly, the same in non league football as elsewhere, it only takes a couple of neanderthals to muck things up for everyone!
  • Welling have been f*cking awful so far tonight.
  • Finished 2-1. Welling had a man sent off late on which provoked them into pulling a goal back and setting up an exciting finish, but then Bush got himself sent off for stamping on Noble, and that was effectively that. I was a bit suprised to find welling now in a relegation spot, and I still doubt they'll be there come may, but it's an unforgiving división with a lot of full time clubs, and as Dartford found out last year, when the rot sets in, it's hard to turn it around.
Dartford came into this one on the back of a mini injury crisis, but played one of their better games of the season and deserved the win. Even so, they need to keep the momentum going as clubs the size of these two are minnows in the Connie prem.
  • I thought Dartford would have a hangover after Saturday but they looked much fitter than Welling and first to everything. More suspensions could harm Welling as well.....

Saw about 20 people that I recognised from Charlton......

Discipline and desire are Welling's issue.

  • Did Dartford stick with the goalkeeper they had out against Bromley? I thought he was shit.
  • Went to Staines v Hendon last night in the Middx Cup. What a brilliant pitch Staines have got....it's league standard. And a tidy ground too.

Like league football, non-league football is a world away from where it was 20 years ago. Teams are highly coached and last night both teams were really expansive. Staines won 5-2 and it was excellent entertainment (although a bit expensive at £12).
  • Nice big game tonight. Yeap the mighty Maidstone vs Dulwich. COYS (shame i cant make it though)

  • I saw Dartford at both the Bromley game and the Welling game last night. I thought they were poor at Bromley on Saturday and only survived in the Cup due to Bromley's poor defending of crosses. Last night, they looked a tidy team that worked for each other. The first goal was very well taken. Welling were disappointing and below par.

    Ex Charlton Jason Brown......

Ticket to get into Dartford is £16 i think, Upper west at Charlton £15, i paid £12 to get into Bromley v Dartford game,
  • Yep, there's a bizarre twist in non league that says the league set a mínimum Price level, which is occasionally more expensive that local league clubs. I've seen Welling fans complaining too, that they are obliged to sell tickets at a higher Price tan Charlton. My brother in law is involved at Thamesmead FC, and says the league have set a mínimum Price of around 10-12 pounds. Thamesmead are attracting about 40 fans at home, and can't cut their prices to try and attract more people through the turn stiles.
  • Yeah my Welling mate was telling me this, apparently its to do with the big League clubs that have been relegated from League Two that have demanded this so that they dont lose too much money.

Shame it cant be a price cap the other way to ensure fans can afford to attend!!

Game of two halves over Welling today.
They more than edged it the first half, but Maccesfield came out a lot stronger in the second.
Must say, their keeper played a blinder, Rhys Taylor.
How he kept out a couple of Wellings Aristide Basseles headers was beyond me.
    Although a 0-0, not a bad game.

Went to Princes Park today as best mate from uni was ref. Some decent football played in patches by Dartford by their defence, and ex-Charlton keep Jason Brown, lets them down.

Look good going forward and Lee Noble is a tidy player at this level.

1-1 in the end, Dartford equaliser with the last kick of the game.
  • Went to Maidenhead to watch Bromley take on Hayes and Yeading who are ground sharing there.

Bromley 1-0 down at halftime burst into life second half and won 2-1, though should have been at least three or four.

The Hayes and Yeading ground is Being Re-built and they should be going back soonish which is good news.
  • Saw my 3rd Hendon game in a week on Saturday. A 4-0 FA Trophy win v Worthing. Sadly, the "crowd" was only 174 but there is prize money (someone said £3200) for getting through the round.

Next round....away to Ebbsfleet. We've got Ipswich that day in the early KO but is it feasible to get to Ebbsfleet on time? (I doubt it).
