Bank holiday Monday I went to the Eastbourne Town v Eastbourne United derby in the Sussex League.
In a division where crowds are normally below 50, this game pulled in just under 600!
A great little ground, and the Town ultras were able to enjoy a very comfortable 4-1 victory.
I will certainly look to do the reverse fixture next season.
My Nan is from Hailsham and keep meaning to go see Hailsham Town from the Sussex League.
Sadly they played Rochester United (my home town club) in the FA Vase last season but I didnt realise, would have been great to watch.
Hailsham are going down this season, they only managed about 8 points!
OUCH!! - Just seen that... They're not one of the better teams and are usually bottom half of the table in what we must now call the Southern Combination but to only get eight points (conceding 145-goals) isnt good.
Teams are jinxed when I support them I swear.
Charlton | Welling | Rochester | Hailsham - None of them seem to be better than the bottom half of their respective Leagues!!

I tend to have a wash every day so straight away rules me out supporting either side
When you go further down the scale to 8th or 9th tier, its amazing how many clubs are in your locality you dont even know about...plus the odd ex professional you instantly recognise is turning out for them. 99% of these players do it for nothing not even expenses.
Saw, Clevedon v Hartley Wintney a few years ago, Scott Murray (ex reading/aberdeen/bristol city) was playing and booby could was summarising for radio bristol, both decent guys to talk too.

Chelmsford may have a problem, albeit unlikely - if they make the play off final AND are the highest placed league team in the final (i.e. they have beaten Darts in semi and either Ebbsfleet or Maidenhead have lost their semi), their ground is already booked for the day of the final by the Essex Athletics Assoc for their championships
Apparently, at start of the season the league said it would be at a neutral venue, but then changed their minds
Visions of the players swerving javelins and hammers as they try and play the final spring to mind
Hartley have ex pompey and southampton trainees as there two strikers, One is Ross Cook who has had a few trials with Bristol Rovers this season.
He is a prolific scorer, however he is always getting sent off, currently serving an 11 game ban, 8 of them as he has been sent off about 4 times this season (and could have been more as the ooposition are always winding him up) and the club imposed a three game ban on top of that.
It's Cray Valley Paper Mills v Dulwich Hamlet in the London Senior Cup tonight - Cray Valley are going great guns in their league and share with Greenwich Borough in Eltham. Eight quid in, a fiver concessions.

Did them in the early 90's so only need United to complete the set.
