Would people honestly take a total rebranding which would have to happen in return for prem football and champions league

    No from me

    No from me.

If we end up changing our name, our ground and our kit then what part of us would be Charlton any more?
    Our shit away numbers.
    Ha ha - true enough.

Plus some of the "fans" that "support" us by slagging off just about everyone and everything connected with the club, team, players, fans, etc. If a complete rebranding meant we could get rid of them for good then I might just swallow it - but we all know that it won;t. They can't help themselves.
Agreed. I'll become less interested in the club if a takeover like this happened. I'll be happy that the club my grandfather and father supported is doing well but it wouldn't feel like proper charlton with "red bull" in front of the name. Having said that, I would be over the moon if we got into the champions league.

Having said that if I were them and considering what they've said I think west ham would be a good bet to be taken over by them. Olympic stadium and a "big" name in the south east/Essex with hs1 connection givin them a potential support base in kent as well. Gold and Sullivan would be willing to sell if the price was right.
  • Would we then accept Gold, Sullivan & Brady if they accepted a Red Bull buy-out? I know they had us as their other option if they couldn't get WHam, who were their definite first choice.
  • Westham would not be a rebrand their fans would riot it would be more a fulham or non offensive club like us that would allow it to happen tbh
  • Discounted Fulham earlier because of their new owner just coming in.

No idea, but would WHam be allowed, for example, to rename the stadium? Not sure of the contract, but they will only be tenants won't they?
  • Good point could see arsenal or spurs both doing it tbh

Arsenal aren't going to do it anytime soon as Emirates have naming rights for at least the next 10 years. Red Bull could always buy those naming rights, but that would make an expensive deal even more expensive.

Can't imagine Spurs fans wanting to change thier kit to anything with red in it, but you'd know more about that than me nla. MAybe some sort of deal tied in with the new ground might work.

However, "Red Bull Palace" has a ring to it. A club with no history and a drinks manufacturer that are more hot air than product - a perfect fit.
  • Good point about West Ham - only being tenants of their home ground could make them less attractive to potential buyers.
  • The more I think of it its got fulham for london or everton for nthrn team
  • A half decent blog here: http://supportersnotcustomers.com/2013/06/11/against-red-bull-football/

Hypothetically, if we played against a Red Bull branded team we would (rightfully) insult them. I don't really see how any fan of any club could accept such huge changes for the sake of success under a different guise.

    **** 'em.
  • That's the best football related link ever on this site

Wow just wow and that was why I thought spuds or goonershite

Can see mk dons doing it reading that though

  • Great blog...sad to see so many Cov fans licking their lips at the thought of RB money, but I suppose if you're as low as they are then you'll grasp at any straw in a sugar-laden can!
  • Sums them and the club up

    Great link
  • Here's Ream's suggestion, change everything even what side of the river we are on and the colour of the kit.

  • I think he is just on a wind up
  • Bookmarked the link after searching the text for any mention of "Daily Mail".

True football site by the looks, witty, partisan (for football) and varied.

    Thanks for the link.

Been lurking over on that site recently. He really doesn't like CP. I see you post on there as well. Don't know him personally so can't really have a dig but it sounds like he hates Charlton but runs a forum.
  • Shame Fulham have just been bought, ideal candidates for a Red Bull London rebranding

    .
  • Would like to think we wouldn't touch this with a shitty stick, but looking at our current board, I'm not confident that they'd turn it down. I'd rather see us in L2 than in the prem knowing we've sold our soul.

It would truly finish it for me.....................

Yep. The further we are from this sort of awful bollocks the better. I'd like to think there'd be a supporters' FC begun immediately, matches to be played in Charlton Park or somesuch

Of course I say that - it might be hard at first to tear myself from The Valley but this would be quite easily the worst thing to happen to Charlton since the late 1980s and possibly worse than even that

Red Bull is a truly evil liquid fwiw
  • F@ck the robin I say.

The red,red bull keeps on bounding along
    etc
  • Having read the article I certainly would NOT rule us out as an investment, these guys seem happy to buy lower-end teams and bring them through.

In all seriousness, Palace would be a good bet for them as they are already in the PL and guaranteed parachute money.

By the time any deal goes through Palace will probably not be a Premier League team and parachute money is the least of Red Bull's problems. But for a London franchise Palace could be a good option for them.

They may well be relegated but even for a company like Red Bull a cool 60 MILLION QUID over four seasons is certainly better than buying us and taking on 30 million quid in debt.

These folks did not get rich by turning down free money!

    PhillipsSv in holland.
    Fiat at juve

Bit like fayed throwing millions at Fulham or walker and abramovich buying the title

    This.

  • Prefer a monster rehab myself..
  • I'd take the red wings.
  • id much prefer red bull to some unknown middle eastern consortium. at least the risk of an asset strip a la Coventry would be much diminished.

however, id still prefer no takeover at all. prefer CAFC than Red Bull Athletic.
