Having read the article I certainly would NOT rule us out as an investment, these guys seem happy to buy lower-end teams and bring them through.
In all seriousness, Palace would be a good bet for them as they are already in the PL and guaranteed parachute money.
By the time any deal goes through Palace will probably not be a Premier League team and parachute money is the least of Red Bull's problems. But for a London franchise Palace could be a good option for them.
They may well be relegated but even for a company like Red Bull a cool 60 MILLION QUID over four seasons is certainly better than buying us and taking on 30 million quid in debt.
These folks did not get rich by turning down free money!
Posting without reading - fair comment but surely the attraction would increase IF the club enters administration .... and this option should not be discounted!
I seem to remember that when Chrysler were rebranding the old old Rootes cars to the shortlived Talbot brand, they tried to sponsor Coventry City but only if they changed the name to Coventry Talbot, but this was not allowed by the Football League or FA rules. If this is still the case Red Bull could not rebrand a club with its name. Anyone know if this is still the case?
I don't want Redbull involved with us (especially not after clicking on that link) but I do find it quite funny that so many are saying if we had a different name, badge and kit then it wouldn't be Charlton... well in my opinion what makes us Charlton is our fans, the characters from over the years, the Valley Party, VOTV, this forum, the people sat around me every week. No changes would lose that and as long as we were all still here bitching about our new Taurine-fuelled owners, and the geezer behind me in the West Upper still shouting "RUBBISH! SORT IT OUT POWELL PEP" whenever we're not winning then it would still be Charlton.
Not a Charlton that I desire, but if it did happen we the fans would still make it our club...
(unless we all upped and formed AFC Charlton I suppose)
MK Dons don't own Wimbledon's history, they have very few of their fans, their characters, etc. It took the fans to reestablish their club and years to win promotion back to the league, and the fans to bring hope of a return to Plough Lane. MK Dons is nothing more than a franchise, which is exactly what Red Bull would be. The only difference is that MK Dons weren't branded by Winkelman and used as a marketing toy.
Our club would cease to exist overnight if Red Bull bought us. It would cease to exist. I wouldn't even wish that on Palace, despite their lack of history, class or identity.
I wonder if the Premier League would let it happen to one of their member clubs?
The original article says they have discounted buying a Championship club as running costs too high to achieve their aims so all this debate about whether we would be happy with a takeover, rebranding etc. is totally irrelevant.
As much as it pains me to say it I think administration is our only option to get rid of the current regime and start again as there is no white knight on the horizon willing to pay the ridiculous asking price for the club. I think this will happen in the next 18 months.

I generally agree of course but I do think the distance and stadium change is the key difference between Red Bull Addicks and MK Dons.... if we were still in Charlton, and specifically the Valley, then I don't think the two are comparable.
Not that I'm in favour of it or want it to/think it will happen!! But I don't think that it's as simple a comparison to MK Dons, or dare I say it, quite as repugnant.

Granted Cardiff made the change before they were promoted but there didn't seem to be any interest in challenging Hull Tigers name change.
Anyone that thinks that those in the Premier League would stop the sale of anything has clearly not been watching closely enough.
They respect nothing, they value nothing and they have no loyalty to the fans that are the clubs lifeblood. All they are interested in is the money. If they offered enough money I suspect that every team in the Premier League would be willing to have their name preceded by Red Bull. So you could have Red Bull Super Sunday with a top of the Red Bull Premier League clash between those hoping to get into the Red Bull top four to win a place in the Red Bull Champions League. Games including Red Bull Manchester United vs Red Bull Arsenal at the Red Bull Old Trafford Stadium and Red Bull Chelsea vs Red Bull Manchester City at the Red Bull Stanford Bridge.
Seriously! Nothing in our game is no longer for sale!
As far as I see it, if allowed, it would just open the way for the next level of sponsorship, where the club calls themself by the name of whoever is sponsoring them at the time. After a while most fans would struggle to even know the name of their club, as it changes sponsor every year....................

That's exaclty the case here in China,as I mentioned in my earlier post. You don't know what you've got until you lose it.We Chinese football fans always admire the great football culture in Europe, especially England.People being lifelong supporters of a club, and passing that passion down to their children. It can never happen here.Clubs change their names so often. How are you supposed to feel connected to a club when you find out that its name, colours, players, manager and owner/sponsor have all been changed in say just two years' time?Only the local real DIE-HARD supporters would know what such club is all about. If the Prem League allows this kind of so-called new level of sponsorship to happen,I think that'll possibly be the end of the global popularity which it's been enjoying for the last decade or two because people around the world will find it hard to indentify a club and therefore feel it pointless to follow them.
Red Bull as a drink is, as I understand, not suitable for vegetarians. It contains a substance called 'taurazine' I think. On that basis alone I would be averse to Red Bull taking us over.
One question that keeps popping into my head is: Just how much bloody money have they got? We're talking about a vile tasting soft drink. They seem to dominate the majority of the lesser known sports with sponsorship. Was shocked when they jumped into F1 and thought "How the bloody hell can they afford that?". Then along with all the other clubs they've raped of their identity, so just how big can their pot be? Do the human race really consume so much of this crap????
Another thing that (I'm not sure regarding other leagues) is what about the FFP ruling? Surely for them to take over a small(ish) club, probably lose about 50% of supporters (main income), so virtually all money would be what they pump into the club, which is ( I thought) what the ffp is there to prevent...............

Would we lose 50% of support if they took us over?? I doubt it.
Red bull are already major sponsors in F1, rallying, motocross, motoGP, extreme sports and football, they own several arenas, their own F1 circuit and have deals with many musicians too, the retail price of the drink and the manufacturing price will show you why they have all this money.
Orient fans must be disgusted at the number rebrands they have gone through. Still not sure difference of being play thing of individual and a company.

You are correct Seth. Red Bull is NOT suitable for veggies and I support your stance.

It's not the name change I'm wondering about - it's the effective dissolution of a member club for the opportunity to their golden share.

The EPL would only debate that if there was a negative effect for them, I would guess. They weren't bothered about United and Liverpool's takeovers any more than they were worried about a Russian super criminal taking over Chelsea. They wouldn't protect the teams from evil, but they'd protect themselves from revenue loss. And if naming a club Red Bull Whatever was a negative, they'd find a way to stop it. Unless of course, Red Bull made it worth their while, one way or another.

Watch this space for the takeover to go through next week then.
now can we get back to the Daily Mail thread?
Red bull the drink is probably the worst stimulant you can have its disgusting and very unhealthy.
That's irrelevant, if they are rich!
Who is so sure that they would destroy our club all this 're-branding etc...
No one knows what they would do either way....all we currently know is they have more money then our owners which is a good thing, yes?
