AVB saying decision was correct, people getting involved who do not know what they are talking about?

I have lost all respect for AVB after that interview. Everything he says is either wrong or just stupid.

  • To be honest I am in the camp of "he said he was OK to carry on so he did", football is being sanitised at an alarming rate and if players injuries are being scrutinised down to the last detail by people off the field of play then we may as well call it a day.

The trainers and doctors treated him, they said he was OK, he said he was OK, he finished the game and he is OK..............good call by all concerned.

    Indeed.

"It is not comparable to NFL or rugby. It is not comparable to [Chelsea goalkeeper] Petr Cech. It astonishes me that it is trying to be put in the same mode as these situations."

Tell me Andre, how is Petr Cech being knocked unconscious in a collision with an outfield player so different to Hugo Lloris being knocked unconscious in a collision with an outfield player? Why exactly is it different to a player being knocked unconscious in NFL or rugby?

I got the impression from thr radio commentary that Lloris was the only one who thought it was okay to carry on and the medical staff acceded to him.

One of the reasons it is important even if he was ok, is that it sets a precedent in the macho world of football and the next player may not be so lucky. Hesd injuries are not always instantaneous in their full effect.

    Agreed
  • Didn't like the swipe at Lukaku either, was completely accidental so don't really see how an apology is called for. Especially as he probably said it on the pitch to Lloris at the time (who can't remember the incident anyway).

I presume AVB hasn't seen the footage otherwise he wouldn't think that Lukaku could have possibly avoided it. The mans a twat.

Fortunately, Martinez is making much more sense - and having a little pop at AVB :)

  • ""Obviously we are waiting for Roberto Soldado to apologise to Phil Jagielka, and so we can use the same phone call so we don't have to spend on two phone calls." Love it!

  • I've not read the earlier comments but from watching it on tv I am pretty sure that Dawson wanted him off the pitch, he knew he wasn't right.
  • could anyone who has said it was fine for him to carry on explain why he isnt even in the squad today?
  • He didn't play on Thursday and Friedal is in goal today with the forgotten Gomes on the bench.

He needed to pop round to Lidl for some shopping so could not make the match
  • Was Wsczesny (sp?) out cold there?

The only shot of it I saw he looked to be talking pretty soon after. Also, the physio for Arsenal is the same one that took off Flamini with a concussion a few weeks ago. Strange these are all coming up so recently.
  • Some people obviously fail to understand how dangerous concussion can be. Spurs gave Lloris an ImPACT test - Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing - which obviously gave them cause for concern, hence he wasn't allowed to play on Thursday or Saturday. It is ridiculous that he was allowed to carry on playing against Everton following such a severe head injury. They were basically gambling with his life.
  • Think this "argument" is settled. To allow him to see out the match and then prevent him from playing a week later means they know they got it wrong. Somebody needs to make an apology. And it ain't Lukaku!
