Old Fairy's beers are consistently good.Riviera said:
We are currently on our second cask of Old Dairy Summer Top at the Long Pond. First one went in a couple of hours on Friday night. It's delicious.Stig said:There are a lot of summer ales available at the moment that can be chilled. You could try Fuller's Honey Dew, Crouch Vale Brewers Gold or Badgers Lemony Cricket. They are all available in bottles.

I'm usually right up for anything that's going to encourage people to have a real ale or two, but I can't stand these fake 'It's National Something Or Other' Days. They add nothing to our heritage and are nothing but devices to part people from their money. It makes me so annoyed, I need to go and find the annoyances thread.0

I agree with you to a certain extent but there is a link to the signing of the Magna Carta, it's not just a random date. I knew nothing about it until I heard it on the radio this morning, had no messages from any of the breweries I deal with nor CAMRA.Stig said:I'm usually right up for anything that's going to encourage people to have a real ale or two, but I can't stand these fake 'It's National Something Or Other' Days. Can I add to Stig's list; Hopback Summer Lightning and Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay Organic Ale. Light (but not weak), golden and very quaffable...MrOneLung said:Need some recommendations.
Am a lager drinker, don't really like real ales but had a chilled bottle of Doom Bar other day and it was palatable.
Any others I should try , preferably that you can chill (as more of a home drinker at moment with two under four years old) as a halfway house between lager and the ales?0 -
For the lager lovers, a few days recently in Northern Cyprus was uplifted by Efes proving a cracking Pilsner. £1.50 a pint helped it go down well as well!
Wasn't man enough for Dark version though (double-roasted malt lager with 6.5% alcohol and hints of caramel), but well received by others.0 - Sponsored links:

Currently a big fan of Bad Seed Brewery (www.badseedbrewery.com ) - their Cascade is an excellent brew...have a couple of crates at home right now, along with the last of their Pacific..recommended to all. Pub/bar owners look away now but M&S currently has a good range of beers in stock, reasonable prices, for the lager lovers (AFKA), the Anchor California Lager is a decent drink..
Also seem to be buying a lot of Thornbridge Brewery at the moment....their Kipling is ace...also enjoying the Twin Peaks limited collaboration beer... For any anoraks amongst you, my instagram feed is pretty much just beer, with a bit of Charlton and cycling thrown in: mattowense10
Currently reasonably dry as I am cycling from Milan to Venice next week, over the Alps/Dolomites, so trying to stay 'a little bit' fit... but am looking fwd to visits to The Long Pond et al when back... Cheers.1 -
As far as I can tell M&S always have a good range of beers in stock. If you look at the small print, you'll find out who the brewers are and they are always reputable. @Stig M&S beer supply (at least at B'heath standard!) has improved significantly in recent months...buying in lots of other brands as well as producing/labelling their own...Meantime do a range for them and have done for a while, but they've got in Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Anchor etc now to complement the range...(am sure that wasn't there before!)... For those in SE10, Theatre of Wine has a good range of bottles too...1

For those in Sidcup, Lamorbey Wines have a very good range of bottled beers, many from independent local breweries.0

Yes mate, if they rolled out Efes at £1.50 a pint in boozers, they could happily occupy here in my opinionMrOneLung said:

Friday night in Prague, with Trust Chair Steve Clarke and his good lady wife Manuela;
Steve discovers good head;
and learns Czech pub etiquette; as soon as you show signs of finishing your beer, a smiling waitress will, unasked, bring you a fresh beer. Never, everpour the dregs of the old glass into the fresh one0 -

Bloody hell. I'm surprised you don't suffocate in the froth. That's about 2/3 of a pint.2
