Just had a birthday and have the following collection thanks to getting several beer presents and more left at my place after my party. Not expecting it to last long ;-)

    well why not
LOL...some good ones there...love the old Ghost Ship.
  • Charltoon Charltoooon Charltoooooooonnnnnn
  • Interesting article considering what the term "craft beer" really means. Been wondering that myself
  • I see the One Inn The Wood in Petts Wood has been named by CAMRA Bromley as its Pub of the Year.

    Must give it a try.

  • Do, it's a lovely pub.
The Penny Farthing in Crayford won the Bexley equivalent and The Blythe Hill Tavern received the SE London award.
  • And now pissed from Royal Tunbridge Wells....Jennings Snecklifter I salute you
  • Can anyone recommend a decent pub near the Hilton on Park Lane. (So around Curzon St area if that helps)
    Ta.
  • @mid_life_crisis I would come a little further in to town and visit The Lyric on Great Windmill St if it is good beer you are after...quite small, it'll get busy but it's got (arguably) the best selection of beer in the west end.. I am sure there are some closer to the Hilton, but I'm afraid I don't know them... I'll be in The Lyric from about 5pm tonight :-)
  • Im going to your pals new pub tonight CC.

@Curb_It I'm going there for lunch (although am not sure they serve food, so might just be liquid..).... Hope it's as good as all the reviews I've been reading... Have a great evening :-)

  • Let me know re food... i might need to eat. And did you look downstairs at the cocktail bar? whats best for 3 ladeeeez?
  • Bit late now @Curb_It but I hope you had a good time...downstairs definitely best for ladeeeez
  • Popped in there on Monday to have a cheeky couple and wish Andy luck. Nice little pub and quite cosy.
  • Hardly a surprise. One firm who serve ridiculously overpriced average beer buys another one!
  • The Guardian reports that Greenwich’s Meantime Brewing Company has been sold to drinks giant SAB Miller (Foster’s, Grolsch, Peroni, etc).
I'm sorry to see the loss of an Independent (in this case to a multinational) but, that said, I found Meantime's prices to be extortionate. I used to drink Meantime beer years ago, when it was good value, but in recent years have refused to pay the prices they charged.

  • Ahh. I think that's what they mean by 'Posting without reading'....

  • No surprise, their model was always set for a sell
  • Went on a pub crawl up Royal Hill after the Bournemouth game and had my first pint of Meantime. It will be my last. I thought the flavour may make up for the fizzy keg but couldn't taste anything through the bubbles. The pubs either side had much better tasting stuff but were doing nowhere near the trade the Greenwich Union was doing. Is it a question of style over substance? Finished up at the Ashburnham Arms which sells Shepherd Neames. It was then time to go home.

You are absolutely right: all the Meantime beers are filtered, pasteurised, and then fizzed with carbon dioxide. The marketing schtick of 'craft' brewers is nonsense: they are reverting to Watney's - Grotney's - Red Barrel in the Sixties.

You did well: the Young's in the Richard the First, next door, is always in good nick - and the Shepherd Neame Master Brew in the Ashburnham has perked up with the new guvnor.

    Cheers!

Richard the 1st is a decent pub, went of the Union a few years back. Don't mind the Ashburnham Arms especially as my local down here has the same name.

The Ash in Greenwich is named after the Ashburnham family, who owned land in west Greenwich and lived at Ashburnham Place, a few miles west of Battle.

"A fermented alcoholic beverage fortified with Schnapps, containing high levels of caffeine (35mg per 100ml), blended with taurine, guarana and delicious flavours, Dragon Soop comes in seven flavours - Herbal Fusion, Sour Apple, Blue Raspberry, Lemon & Lime, Cherry Vanilla, Red Kola and Strawberry & Lime."
Enough said. This is thread about beer, not what alkies and kids drink on park benches.

I always liked Yakuma (sp?) Red by meantime. Ordered a pint in a local, £5, super fizzy, unbelievably cold and with no taste breaking out.
