Loving this site, bought a holiday to http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/58265/5-year-plan-still-in-place-no-to-imminentCenter Parcs, a Rac membership and a new stairlift!

I can understand the RAC membership if you break down on the way to Centre Parcs but where does the stairlift fit in to the holiday? :0)

"Charlton chairman Michael Slater said: 'We are not interested in selling and it's nonsense to suggest otherwise.'" - May 30th, 2013.

"Given the uncertainty about the club's future ownership, budgets have not yet been prepared." - club's due diligence document May 31st, 2013

Is this a dig at Slater or a little hint on some inside info?

I think the best scenario here is to simply ignore Slater. The way I see it he planted the SLP story, in which a specific figure for the club was mentioned. The only reason I can see him doing that is to raise the price of a rival bid (that's taking the jump that the group mentioned in the SLP actually exist).

Takeovers take time. Everyone within the club will want it to happen ASAP just like us. The best thing to do is walk away from this thread for a while, and everything will no doubt become clearer in time.

Which will arrive first, Rob62 ...

I would hope that the takeover or the queens christmas message might be a more pertinent question.

I see Harris' company Apollo spent 257M odd on 610M of naff Lloyds bank mortgages in Ireland today so they are still very actively buying underperforming assets.

If hes got that much money surely he can fork out a few more million to get a deal going through

I can see the 5 Year Plan post taking over this thread if we're not careful......come on guys, there's more we can eke out of this takeover...I heard a rumour that Steve Davis is involved in the takeover bid but asked if they could wait until he returns from Oz.

Sunglasses Ron, Paddy the Greek and the Driscoll Brothers have come in with a cheeky last minute bid. That's what has caused the delay. Fact.

The sad thing is, that's not a million miles away from the truth..............

Something that cannot harm the club's valuation ....

In Lansdowne Lane this morning we received an impressive leaflet giving details of the new Sainsbury's, Greenwich. This is expected to replace the existing former show-piece site in Spring 2015. The location ? The substantial site next to Makro's ! Greenwich indeed - that's prime SE7 territory.

The new store will contain 80000 sq ft of selling space, an increase on the current store of over 50%. It will be adjacent to a new M&S department store, presumably also no corner shop. Planning permission is currently being sought by the developers to replace the existing Sainsbury's with an IKEA.

More information is available at sainsburysgreenwich@cascadepr.co.uk.

No doubt the sharp operators on CL are au fait with these considerable developments, but I confess I was not. Perhaps RBG as Charlton's unofficial brokers have been able to bring such matters to the attention of prospective owners.

Apollo clearly like a bargain, if that's what they've recently got in paying Lloyds £257m (in cash) for £610m-worth of dodgy properties. We are aware of the commercialisation being engineered for the district - no wonder our current owners are holding out for a reasonable price. As said before - they only have the opportunity to sell the club once, and contrary to buyers' hopes and/or expectations this is clearly no fire sale.

I knew IKEA were going for the Sinnsbury's site, and wondered about the Charlton end of the industrial area, lots of space there, and we get a new Sainsbury's there.
    Handy for residents.

    Is that next to Makros:

    1. Across the road and towards the river?
    2. Across the road towards Woolwich?
    3. The other side of Makros towards Greenwich?

#3 - the large vacant site that's just been cleared. What I think used to be Charlton, sorry Greenwich, dog track.

Many thanks for these links - most enlightening.

Am I alone in being a little perturbed in thinking that a building goes from state-of-the-art to obsolescent in less than 15 years. After all, this is not a car or computer. (Sainsbury's leaflet says : "In recent years the number of people living and shopping in the local area has increased significantly; this has meant that our store trade has increased to such a point that it cannot remain in the current building without compromising the customer's shopping experience.") Under RBG's relentless ambition there is a hectic pace to these developments and a clear lack of any sentimentality - it's all strictly business.

These are just more parts of the jigsaw.

If IKEA swallows Sainsbury's and Comet, that is going to be quite a footprint, especially when parking is considered.

PC World is built on the old Stone's sports ground. The dog track was definitely further along, I'm pretty sure where the new Sainsbury's will be.

The current sainsburys has many problems due to its Eco friendly construction, read somewhere that it has bore holes to cool/heat it but these keep flooding
