Is it not a bit pointless to read and moan on a thread which isnt up to your superior film knowledge ? Maybe you could start your own to educate the rest of us ?
Tried this strategy on a number of topics, but it don't work on here!
As its a thread of Xmas films and not a definitive list of one persons favs, I'm all for a bit of joining in and a little less "i'm a better Barry Norman than you".
I don't think Beds has ever said people can't add their own suggestions
Of course not. I want people to comment ( and they have) . Not everyone agree on what are good movies , I'm just giving a few suggestions a day based on what I like. Everyone is encouraged to disagree but to have a dig at me , like Golfie did , is just pathetic .
I will post every day , the best films ( in my opinion) on terrestrial and free view TV over the holiday period.
Sat 21st
5.25pm BBC2 - THE YOUNG VICTORIA (2008)
9.10pm BBC3 - CON AIR (1997)
9.00pm BBC4 - PAPILLON (1973)
9.00pm ITV 2 - THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994)
10.50pm ITV 4 - TRAINING DAY (2001) ( My Pick of the day )
00.40 am Film Four - WEDDING CRASHERS (2005)
To re-iterate - all I was commenting on was the title of this thread & just surprised you missed out The Guns of Naverone on Saturday & Ice Station Zebra today - 2 decent films in anyones book.
I will concede that having re-read your initial post you do state that they are " in my opinion" and not just decent films that are showing on that particular day.

Wild at Heart - For me this is one of David Lynchs more watchable films. Eraserhead scared the wotsits out of me!
I love Lynch but I wasn't a big fan of Wild at Heart. I think I'm going to sit in tonight and watch Inland Empire on DVD, that is one complete head f' of a film. I have never been more confused.
what about Ice Station Zebra, currently on BBC. I don't think much of your Film Watch.........
As I have said before . I can't recommend a film I haven't seen before . If your not happy Perhaps next Christmas you can do one for the older viewer . It doesn't pay well though .
I suggest that before you start recommending films that are being shown on TV over xmas (which usually include a number of classic / well known ones along with recent releases) that you at least have a modicum of knowledge about films in general. I have never seen Gone with the Wind all the way through but I at least know that it is a classic & something that should be watched if given the chance.
Anyone else enjoy the rich irony in this post?
Keep up the good work Beds. Most of us appreciate the sentiment behind the thread, apart from Claudia Winkleman obviously!
I love a row with Beds but even I find it difficult to pick an arguement with him over a very useful thread that saves me having to pick up the Radio Times.
Someone needs to make a film about the craziest brothers since the Marx, Golfie&Large!

I think they already have - it stars Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau.

Pathetic. If you're gonna post on here, you need to put in much greater effort.
