What the fook is the ref on about in his interpretation of 'dangerous'? Just trying to cover his arse IMO.
He continued: “I have to decide whether the pitch is playable, and the answer is no. If you plant your feet you expect to be able to move them but when you turn they get stuck. And that's dangerous.”
Load of bollocks.
Erm......... I don't think it was just the ref that thought it unplayable.
Maybe the only good thing to come out of today's fiasco is that the owner was here and saw for himself what state the club is actually in, or rather, what it has been reduced to. Hopefully anger and embarrassment will drive him to make an early impact, to avoid a repeat of today's pitiful performance.
feel so bad for those travelling fans - from both clubs...The weather was great this morning and it is inexcusable that the game was called off at 1pm. Reminds me of a very long and wasted journey to Newcastle!! Totally unacceptable.

So it may have been unplayable, but don't try and tell me it's dangerous to try and justify it
The way the club has played this has been a joke. Why did the club on its website written by Jimmy Stone write there was not a problem?
I so wish I had called Bradshaw to account at the Bromley meeting back in October when he claimed all 3K Millwall fans were put back on trains to London from the Valley. I knew this were wrong but did not have the front to go against him. Why is he not fronting up on the website at least tonight?
Not best pleased. After checking the os I made a last minute decision to go to the game. I don't get to many home games now because money is tight and I get little change out of £130 for a home game for me and my son. Left Stockport at 09:30 and parked up at 13:30 just in time to find out about the postponement. Got home to Stockport at half six. 9 hours wasted and the best part of £100 lighter in fuel and food costs. There is no excuse for not having an early morning inspection by a local ref and saving me and countless others from a crap day and wasted £££'s

Another game my son will now miss out on due to the evening kick-off. I'm sure this will apply to many others too. Tempted to ask for a pro-rata refund on his season ticket, just to make a point to the Shufflers in charge.
This. My 10 year old son generally doesn't come to evening matches due to having school the next day - he has now missed Donny. Oxford & now this.........2 of which were scheduled league games on a sat. Don't think in future I'll buy season tickets as it doesn't seem that we can be sure what days we will be playing home games anymore
Well with the news that Billy smarts circus tent was on last night , then how could it deteriorate so badly , or how could it not improve with a week of dome and heaters on or sunlight when dome off It looks as bad as it was for the Wednesday match if not worse Is there a problem where even with the dome on water is soaking in from somewhere
The ground staff not reckoning for an inspection is a big call and turned in to a big mistake by them and probably led to all the other communication issues re it's all ok and will be on Well let's hope all from top to bottom understand from now on in it is better to be safe than sorry

I think you should let the club know m8. Disgraceful

You do realise that's how ankles break? The pitch was dangerous if that's the case.

Really sorry to hear this stockport, if you email the supporters trust we could arrange some free tickets for another game. We have a fund for that. I would be happy to nominate you for that here is the link.http://www.castrust.org/addicks-ticket-fund/ Sorry about the fuel, I would be happy to nominate you and your son, I am a board member. Hope it helps go some way to compensate a fellow fan.
I imagine the new Sporting Director is as we speak having someone strung up by the bollox.
That's one lucky guy.
The oxford game on Tuesday May as well be changed to their ground. It's the FA cup, they can do it. If a clubs too small they can change the fixture to an away tie. Same if your pitch is too shit. If we go out, then it won't be a bad thing as we are gonna have a fixture pile up at this rate anyway.
In terms of the drainage, surely there's something we can do about it over the next few weeks with a bit of investment?? It's the 21st century ffs.

That really is a sad story, and I'm sure every Lifer has sympathy for you and your son. As SHG suggests, I urge you to write to the club in the strongest terms, demanding an answer to why the pitch couldn't have been inspected hours earlier.

you're fascinated by this dome malarky aren't you. I've no idea what it does but let me know when you find out

Have you seen some rugby pitches! If your point is the case rugby would never be played during the winter!

Yeah A&E is full of players every Sunday morning after playing on muddy pitches........ Crap

It's a different game. Imagine your foot getting stuck in the pitch during a tackle? You don't have tackles at ankle level in rugby.
We are getting slated on 606. They're asking for the club to comment. But hey, we're all over-reacting, right?
yeah I think it is an over reaction a huge one,
when we sign a better forward, goalie, midfielder , defender and face Barnsley with a better team and beat them it will all be forgotten, I truly feel sorry for those this has cost money and I hope that the club do something for them,

It did occur to me that if the drainage has totally had it, whatever rain comes down can't run away and as Ooohahh says, it could still be soaking in under the dome. I was just setting off when I got the word, but one of the chaps on here was already in crossbars and reckoned the pitch looked worse than it did for the Wednesday game.

If they definitely know that the drains have collapsed (as has been stated) then presumably it’s been confirmed by using a cctv ‘drain cam’? In which case it would almost certainly have been done by a professional drain company who I would hope have also advised whether the broken pipes can be remotely relined (involving ‘blowing’ a new resin impregnated lining into the pipe which then sets hard).
However, if the collapse is due to movement (sudsidence?) of the enlarged North Stand (as I think has been suggested) then it’s possible that this might even need some sort of underpinning to effect a proper solution?

You should copy this to the club. Disgraceful.
You should be going to Edgeley Park!
Ha ha! That's quite ironic! My son is a county season ticket holder and after the rain we had through the night I actually said to him Stockport would probably be called off and to come with me instead as Charlton are his number 2 team!
@ ken from Bexley - that is greatly appreciated - thank you

Prolly not but they have 7 further fucking goal keepers if we want them
