The only players coming anywhere near SE7 this winter will be "Roland-rejects" and we are regressing from a once proud football club to some ghastly European social experiment based on the free movement of labour within the EU, just to prove what a clever old Belgian the owner is.
I've made a few comments on this thread and I haven't trawled through to see if this has been mentioned but I think the clue to Yann and others leaving can be seen in the 'meet the new board' video. Richard Murray said that we would be paying salaries that were more appropriate from now on for a club at Championship level or words to that effect. Yann clearly doesn't want to go but his hand is being forced, IMO.
I think the expectancy was for Chris Solly to be sold and bring in some money, thats not going to happen cos of his knees, so they've decided to raise some cash elsewhere. I don't think Yann has been as mobile since his own injury worries and is probably top earner. From a financial point if view this may make sense, however we need a decent replacement ( not a free SL cast off), we need someone who will improve the morale of the team, and most importantly some GOALS!.

Thing is we are never ever going to be competitive for players that are established in the Championship, if we offer sensible wages, we weren't when we offered more than we could afford. So basically we are more or less left with cheap imports and the cheapest are from RD's clubs.
when say competitive for a club our size , do yu think it would be based on age, class of player and future sell on , so if we got a 24 yr old in who had a bit about him and was a investment opportunity, we would pay more, if you were an older player may be not so much
D at this stage of the season we need to strenghen the team not weaken it , unless we bring someone in to replace yann it is gonna be a problem , age etc dont come into it, its about wots right at this moment cos we could drop into league 1 again which would be a disaster for the club ,i just hope RD keeps off the stella over the next 48 hrs.
He's scored a few goals in the Dutch 2nd division and he's only 20. If he rejects Benfica for us it'll prove beyond all doubt we are a bigger club than Benfica now.
