Yep. What I will say is be prepared for an expensive trip, but you probably already know that f1 plus Monaco equals lots of cash! We have sat at the swimming pool section which is a stunningly fast part of the track and enables you to see the cars at their best. However check online for actual view from a stand as if the car hugs the wall on the racing line you can't see it. An I stay in Nice and get a coach over the border.

    Thanks Damo.

Been a few times, i would suggest the stand opposite the entrance to the tunnel as it has a great view of both the sea and the cars going through the tunnel.

In terms of travel the easiest way would be flying to 'Nice' Airport however prices are hiked during the GP time.

Fly to Nice, train to Monte Carlo....excellent service.

After not making it last year, i have booked Grandstand K (as this seemed to be the stand most people suggested) for this year. Havnt booked any travel/accommodation yet - was thinking of maybe driving there - anybody had any experience of accom/driving there etc. Might try to book Easyjet to Nice, and get train - seems like that might be the best option - anybody know what time the last trains are from Monaco to Nice? - do they run late? or are they typically French, ie last train is before the end of the race?!

I'm sure the SNCF website will give you all the train times, but it's a very regular local service so I'm sure it runs late. There are buses as well (after all most of Monaco's workers will live in France)

Was on a cruise a couple of years ago that offered a excursion to Monaco in the week before the GP. They were assembling the armco, stands and pits, and it was amazing walking the track and seeing how difficult the track is, especially the tunnel. Its almost impossible to believe how they drive at such speed around it.

cramped, noisy and expensive .. but while you're there, the Med coast in both Italy & France is well worth exploring for a day or two

Haven't been for Grand Prix but stayed in the fairmont hotel on the hair pin bend for a night for free before a free week long cruise round the med.

Wow is all I can say. Took a walk down the track through the tunnel to harbour then back up the casino. How the other half live! Enjoy!

Was down in the south of France last year, we got a train back to our campsite (at Biot near Antibes) from Nice at around 10pm...I think that had come from Monte Carlo, we had caught one earlier from there to Nice at around 4-5pm. Train was pretty packed mainly with day trippers from Nice to Monaco.

As others have said, brill day but mega expensive. I go to Nice about 3 times a year through work and a couple of times it has coincided with the GP. The hotel I use in Nice is a small ish family run jobby and very reasonably priced however, over the GP weekend the price trebles at the very least!! The hotel is called The Oasis on Rue Gounod which is a 5 minute stroll from Nice train station and also just a 5 min walk from the Prom de Anglais. Parking is a mare in Nice and this hotel does have private parking at 10 euro's a day.

I would recommend staying in Nice then using the train to Monaco, good service that runs late and offers some stunning views of the coast line which is especially good on GP weekend as the med is packed with super yachts. The bus is a far cheaper option but does take an hour and could be even longer on GP day because of the heavy traffic.

The flights are going to be well expensive too so driving might well be an option. From London you may well cope with one long stint and not bother with a stop over but I drive from Stockport so have to do the drive over two days. Dijon pretty much breaks the journey from Calais in half, it is a beautiful old medieval town with plenty of hotels and good restaurants/bars. However, there is an area a couple of miles out of the town centre where the motel type chains can be found all grouped together, these are as cheap as chips, ideally located a short drive off the auto route and only a cheap cab fare from the town centre.

Personally when I am heading south I stop in a hotel on a motorway service station at Macon and use Dijon when I am heading north.

Did a long corporate paid weekend in Monte Carlo last June. Helicopters, yachts, casinos, top hotel, private dining etc but no F1. Did see Stellios though.

ok, got the tickets - Grandstand K.
Still not sorted out accommodation, but looking at Beaulieu-Sur-Mer , which is along the train line between Nice and Monaco. Anyone been there?

I went to Nice in June last year. Nice is all pebbled beaches and there was a sandy one a town over on the train with SNCF, so we wanted to head over there some days rather than pay the 15 euro deck hire. We were there for 10 days, the SNCF were on strike for 7 of them.......

If you're going to stay in Nice @The_President and get the train, keep an eye on these jokers

    Well, here we go.
Leaving (by car) from London at 5am on Saturday morning - have guest house booked in Nice for sat and sunday night and looking to hack it down there (via Italy (Turin)) in 13 hours - tough ask, but got nice car to do it in and looking forward to it immensely. Weather isnt predicted to be that great, but the experience will be terrific- a lifetime ambition being fulfilled.

Wouldnt fancy being in the Mercedes garage when Lewis gets back in there!

Strategist at Mercedes - "sacked in the morning, you're getting sacked in the morning!".

Oh and Nico Rosberg is a disgusting shit stain piss bucket turd of a man for celebrating that win like that.

Seriously Lewis - just murder him between now and the end of the season.

Terrible mistake to make. Thought Lewis was very diplomatic, loved the way he didnt quite stop in time and rammed the 3rd place board. Lots of deep breaths in that helmet when he got out.

Just got back. What a fantastic day/weekend - what a place Monaco is.
A truly incredible time had, and totally recommend to anyone who is in the slightest bit interested in F!.
Will write more once i've had some sleep !

Find it hilarious how people pin it entirely on Mercedes, Lewis himself said he helped make the decision to come in, and they ballsed up due to being caught by the safety car. Rosberg had every right to celebrate, he's just won Monaco 3 times in a row, something most of the greats couldn't do.

This season has been dire so far, a late safety car and a gamble that didn't pay off has made it a lot more interesting, and we now move on to a great high speed circuit where traction and straight line speed is king, something the Ferrari and the Williams have in abundance. Also, tyre degradation is high in Montreal, and Ferrari seem to be kinder on its tyres than the Mercedes.

Ferrari coming into it more is what Lewis would need. He can fight toe to toe with Vettel in equal machinary and it would make great viewing. Rosberg would be like the man left out of the party.

You obviously don't like Lewis much - but you can't blame him at all for that. The drivers don't have access to all the data and they have to go with what's on the pit wall. Fact is that the tyres were cold - if the pits say he has the time to come in and change then it's a no brainer. They got the maths wrong not Lewis. He showed what a sportsman he is by how he didn't blame the team but he was just trying to say the right thing. His PR has improved tenfold over the years.

Rosberg had a PR nightmare by how he rubbed Lewis nose in it. He was useless all weekend and after the race (and probably after his management pleaded with him to be more magnanimous) he did reign it in and said Lewis was miles better than him and deserved the win.

He is artificially a lot closer than he should be in the championship again but once the luck evens back out again it will look more representative again and Lewis should be a comfortable triple world champion.

Would really like Ferrari to be strong in Montreal and I think they may be. Hamilton is mighty there so Nico could be left behind the three others.

Think you are over egging Williams. Straightline speed they have but traction (which is vital in Monaco) is pony. They won't be in it.

I don't mind Lewis but I find the whole Nico bashing thing funny. Fact of the matter is they are both in the top 50 drivers in the world, and any differences between the two are, in the wider picture, negligible. Those few hundredths of a second make a difference in formula 1, but in a competitive environment, winning is everything and whether you deserve the victory or not, you bloody well take the victory.

People bashed Vettel when he was always winning, claiming its all his car, not the driver, and now we have the same with Mercedes and Hamilton and suddenly most of those same people claim its the driver and the vastly superior car, whilst noted, isn't seen as that big a factor.

Williams are a conundrum, they had a great car last season with the dominant engine, a veteran driver in Massa and a young, raw talent in Bottas. They've gone backwards this year but have shown raw pace in practice and I think they will move up the mid teams in Montreal

One of the things that surprised me from actually being at the race on sunday was how many people are Anti-Lewis (not the British crowds, but virtually everyone else made a huge cheer when it was clear he wasn't going to win) - took me by surprise, even the Yanks behind me were cheering and clapping when he slipped into 3rd, but not cheering and clapping FOR Risberg - it was definitely and anti-Lewis thing. Not sure if this was a bash the leader time or maybe even a racist thing.
However, I thought Lewis's reaction after the race mas very good, and he needs to be given a lot of credit for that.

What area were you watching from? I didn't notice any negativity towards him from where we were up on Le Rocher rock but did think the reaction to Rosberg's win was very muted - Button's 8th seemed to be more of a talking point from the conversations I overheard.

Was my first time there too - we went on a work 'social' coach trip and was meant to leave early Wednesday morning to be there for the 3 days of action. Ended up setting off at about 2am Thursday after our coach crashed on it's previous trip and there were apparently some insignificant football matches at Wembley over the weekend that meant just about every other coach in the country was booked already. Overnight stop in Dijon cancelled to make up time and arrived in our hotel in San Remo just before midnight. Went into Monaco from the 'wrong side' so had to go back out and down the other side to see the practice session and walk the track on Friday which was certainly one of the weekend's highlights. Qualifying and race day less eventful other than the usual delays for the chunnel crossing coming home. Got in at 10.30 last night and back at work 4am this morning. Well worth it though.

Grandstand K - right in front of the yachts and the other side of the pits.
Yes, we got to walk the track after the race - this was also, i agree, one of the highlights.
A little tip about the Channel Tunnel - get a Flexi Plus ticket - cost a litle bit more, but you have your own dedicated lane, and literally bypassed all the queues and got straight on a train at Calais, only had to stop for Passport Control - UK only as usual, as there wasnt even anyone there at the French post.
