    Twitter reliably informs me that today is the 16th anniversary of Chris Powell becoming the first Charlton player in a generation to play for England.

    I was 15 at the time, seemed incredible then and I remember feeling so proud.
    Had that picture of him in an England shirt n my wall for about 5 years...
    I have that very shirt on my wall right now - signed by the England squad.

    great man ... didn't see him much playing for CAFC and had my early doubts when he was appointed manager .. oh how wrong I was and how low have we fallen since he left ..
    he seems happier nowadays in an assistant manager/coach role .. he's articulate, clever, was a terrific competitor and is a total credit to his profession

    McClaren's fault.

    How can any club appoint that tosser (McClaren of course, not our Chris!) Total failure as a manager. Was at Wembley for the Croatia game . . the "Wally With The Brolly" night. I have it from the 'horses mouth' so to speak that in the dressing room before kick-off he told the players to play for a draw!!!! Just have a little patience Chris, as soon as the Belgian mafia go the door will hopefully open for you!

    Thanks for the succinct summary of the future @Leuth.

    Particularly liked what you did there concatenate the support for:

    - new owenership;
    - Chris Powell;
    - JJ;
    - previous success in League 1;

    with kind of grammar and spelling slur.

    Keep up the above average work.
