People apparently paying hundreds of thousands on eBay for devices with flappy bird installed, one sold on eBay for 6 million by all accounts. I think this must be fake though.
Yeah guy who developed it is just some normal guy in a village in Vietnam. The vietnamese have a very different look on money and fame, it's something that should be avoided or hidden. Poor guy probably can't deal with it.
I'm not having a dig at you as I have read this in other places but that is bollocks. If he felt bad he could help lots of poor people in Vietnam, as he is earning $50,000 a day from the game. It's a legal issue.
I see what you mean but i've read that he leads a fairly simple life and the simple life is greatly valued in vietnam. He also said that the game was too addicting. Honestly if your hobby had suddenly exploded into a world wide phenomenon you would either be absolutely loving it or incredibly embarrassed. I think he falls into the latter.

My mate tried after seeing this and he got an email from eBay saying "We have removed your listing as Smartphones cannot be sold unless they are restored to factory settings beforehand, including the removal of flappy birds" I liked how they mentioned flappy birds on its own... knowing him, he probably had about 5 Gig of porn on it too!
HANOI—Despite what many players of his infuriatingly difficult "Flappy Bird" smartphone game seem to think, Dong Nguyen isn't actually Satan.
"I just wanted to create a game that people could enjoy for a few minutes," he said Tuesday in a wide-ranging interview.
His game, which became a global phenomenon, in recent weeks soared to the top of the charts in Apple Inc.'s App Store and Google Inc.'s Play, turning the shy 29-year-old Mr. Dong into something of a sensation among small, independent game developers. His notoriety grew further when he mysteriously withdrew the free game from circulation Sunday at the height of its success.
"It was just too addictive," Mr. Dong said. He said he didn't intend for people to play the game for hours at a time, as many gamers appear to have done.
"That was the main negative. So I decided to take it down," he said.
A quick search on Google for a video on how to install an app on an iPhone / Android without a jailbreak would save some of these people a hell of a lot of money.

Fair play to the bloke.
